And The Rain, Rain, Came Down, Down Down

Lovely, thirst quenching rain.  Although, Fuzzy panicked and ran into the corn field with all the thunder and the lightening.  It took me about an hour to get him to come out.  Boomer stayed with him the whole time.  Both dogs were wet, and muddy and soaked.  They got to sleep on the back porch until they both decided it was way too hot for them and went outside around two this morning.

It is still cloudy here, although not raining.  Everything looks so happy and clean outside.  Rain is a blessing.  It’ s just hard to have it rain during harvest.

(And YES, we do have weeds….)

Whenever it rains I always think of that wonderful little song from Disney—

Linda

Winnie The Pooh And The Blustery Day:

The rain rain rain came down down down
In rushing, rising riv’lets,
‘Til the river crept out of it’s bed
And crept right into Piglet’s!
Poor Piglet, he was frightened,
With quite a rightful fright.
And so, in desperation
A message he did write.
He placed it in a bottle
And it floated out of sight.

And the rain rain rain came down down down
So Piglet started bailing.
He was unaware, atop his chair,
While bailing he was sailing!

And the rain rain rain came down down down
And the flood rose up up upper.
Pooh, too, was caught and so he thought,
“I must rescue my supper!”
Ten honey pots he rescued,
Enough to see him through,
But as he sopped up his supper,
The river sopped up Pooh!
And the water twirled and tossed him
In a honey pot canoe!
The rain rain rain came down down down…

  2. Pebbles becomes very agitated at the first sign of thunder and even days later sudden loud noises outside startle her.
A good downpour does freshen things up, but there are times when we don’t want too much!!

  3. Awww… precious memories (Winnie the Pooh)!
We are enjoying ‘your’ rain today! I am loving every minute of it. It began some time after midnight and has been raining pretty steadily since then. We have over an inch of rain – and more coming! Hooray! It will be interesting to see if the poor, dried out pasture, comes back to life a bit.

  4. Congrats on the rain!!! So glad you are getting some. We supposedly have a 60% chance tomorrow. (that should scare it away.) Some dryland cotton is opening up! Won’t be long for them. Irrigated is not even close. Poor Fuzzy, glad you got him indoors. Lucky gets scared, too.

    Blessings!

  5. Well from reports so far 2012 has been pretty good for you and the harvest, except of course for that fire scare!! I refer to the lit one by the neighbour. Hope that all that business has been sorted out?
The corn in the background of the last photo looks great, reminds me of Gordon MacRae in that movie – “Oklahoma” riding through the corn fields singing his lungs out. Keep an eye out for your “cowboy” to come riding through your corn fields – ha ha! Gotta look for omens these days.
    Cheers

  6. This is Linda on Nana’s computer again. Those are amazing dogs. I love the stories you tell about them. It has been a long time since I had a dog or cat so I especially like hearing about yours. I’m glad you got rain. I’m hoping to find some when I get home to Oklahoma.

  7. Sorry about the dogs. If one of mine were out, she’d run until there was no more rain. We’d lose her forever. So happy that you finally got some wonderful, cleansing rain. Hopefully, that same system is supposed to roll into Austin sometime today. Very much looking forward to it!

  8. I love a good solid rain, and we all need it so much this year! But, I am terrified of lightning. I am sure this is because I heard as a child about my grandfather getting killed by lightning when my grandmother was four months pregnant with my Mom. He was driving a wagon and mule home after going into town, and the lightning hit the mule, ran up the reigns and burned the entire front of his body. So, I am always pretty rattled when there is a storm, and unless I can be in the house (or car) I am very nervous. I’ve seen a few very close lightning strikes too, and that didn’t help much. 🙂 But it’s beautiful…it always makes me think of the power of God. Glad you got a good soaking rain! Sorry the poor puppy shares my fear!
