I have finally finished my serial about Sherlock Boomer. I am very interested in what you think about the story. Please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts. If you haven’t read the complete story or would like to please go to Sherlock Boomer on my header or click this blue line. Because I wrote this as a serial, with a new chapter every Wednesday you will have to scroll clear down to the bottom, then click on older posts to get to the beginning-Chapter One.
I had thought that a weekly chapter would be fun to read and to write. I am of the mind now it probably got long and tedious and boring. Anyway, I am very interested in your thoughts and encourage you to leave a comment. This way others can read what your wrote and I have a place where all the comments are collected.
Finally, I have been able to work on my own yard–to do so I have to let my house go—soon, soon the renters will be in the other house. Right now I’m painting the bubble gum pink bedroom. Once I’m finished they will come!
It’s been delightful to see all the dainty spring flowers popping up from all the moisture we had.
Just look at the beauty of the sky last night! Stunning isn’t it. The storm clouds built around the Plateau, never coming our way. We went out at 6 p.m., to set water, then got in after the sun set. I love seeing the setting or rising sun when we are out there on the land. I just love it.
Anyway off now to get some work done. Please don’t forget to give me your comments about the Sherlock Boomer–Mystery of the Missing Rabbits serial.
Your friend,
Linda
Again and again – get thee hence at speed to a publisher.
You are a natural story teller with FACTS of what life in like
in a rural setting via the eyes of one pooch, Boomer, and two
cats!
Well done

Linda, I enjoyed the series. You have a gift for making the animals come alive. I really liked that Ruth, while a friend of the squirrels, never lost her own nature as a hunter. And Boomers personality, as always shines through. Loved him wondering WWFD? It did seem like the serial format kept the story from moving along at a good pace. Would read it and enjoy it again though.

What kind of flowering plant is the one with the little purple flower? I think I need some of that. 🙂

Personally I liked the serialised storytelling… I wouldn’t read a longer dialogue to be honest (time constraints of a busy life tend to make we prefer shorter posts). More of the saame in my mind…

I enjoyed it. I would make it shorter…but I think it depends on who is your target reader? A nine year old? Or a beginning reader? If it is a read aloud to your Grands book then read it and see how you think it flows:)

I did read it to my grandkids, Far Side–the 7 year old loved it, the ten-year old said I did a very good job, and my teenager told me he was very proud of me.
Thank you, Far SIde

I loved your serial. The story was entertaining and you brought in a lot of things about a farm that most readers would not know about. Boomer has such an engaging personality as an author.

Thank you, Jan. I think I’ll work on another story, but one that I can put on Amazon in ebook format. I really appreciate you thoughts

I very much enjoyed Boomer’s saga! I looked forward to each installment. I appreciate the time and effort you put into each piece. Of course, I’m a big fan of Boomer anyway. Also, I think you nailed those squirrels. You portrayed them just like squirrels would act.

Find a company that publishes children’s books and pitch them your idea. Then you can see it published. Just don’t go with a ‘you pay and we publish you’ place. That’s not what you want.
God bless you all for all your hard work. ♥

I think that is a good idea. I really enjoyed the stories and I am 63 tears old, but I do so love children’s stories. Genis’s mom.

It is a deligtful story and having it in a serial form made for something to look foreward to. I think you should publish it with photos, just like you had on the posts.

I, too, really enjoyed Sherlock Boomer and his search for the missing bunnies! You have a gift of words and story telling, Linda! Since you have so much time on your hands, we’ll look for another story soon (she said with tongue firmly in cheek!!!)! Your Spring flowers are absolutely gorgeous! I don’t have anything but weeds blooming now, so I enjoyed seeing yours!
Blessings!

I enjoyed it, Linda! Boomer is a perfect character to explore and open & show the aspects of your beautiful farm. Love Ruth – she’s a good character! IMO, there are more stories and characters there 🙂 Have fun with it! =^•^=

Great catch of the sunset!
I found myself wanting to “see” the squirrels! Maybe you could get an artist to render a few pictures and incorporate them with real-life Boomer? Might be interesting! I think Boomer has a great “voice” and can tell many a story! Keep up the good work.

I definitely enjoyed Boomer’s story. You give him an interesting voice and the glimpses of the life on the farm have all the qualities that keep a story alive. Looking forward to more tales!

Adventures of Sherlock Boomer was a delightful read. My favorite part is that each week was written like mini-stories or scenes in a play. The only part that was slightly tedious was the first that went into great detail about Boomer going outside and the scratching, rolling in the dirt and such that in the end felt so good. I felt it was a bit long. Otherwise a very charming children’s story that I could easily see with a sketch or cartoon illustrator. Smile!
