It’s snowing here again. A mixed blessing of sorts. (This is an old photo…from three weeks ago.)
The snow has warmed up the air a tad. Always good.
The gray light across the landscape has lifted the world from night shadows into a soft filter of sun.
The dying night speaks volumes of what our frozen landscape is made up of—
Vast fields of white and, of course, last years [still] standing corn.
A quote says it all…. “there’s just something beautiful about walking on snow that nobody else has walked on. It makes you believe you are special”.—Carol Rifka Brunt, Tell the Wolves I’m Home.
So we move forward, you and I…day five of the year 2016. Searching for those little bits of joy that fill our lives with happiness.
Your friend,
Linda
It’s looking overcast and snowy here and the temperatures have moderated somewhat. January always seems like a long lonely month here.

It’s just the worst month for me. February brings the cows, which helps. I don’t know this year IF we get to have the cows…the corn has to be harvested first.

We are having gloomy rainy days, but we are finding joy in them.

YES! Joy for California. I remember you saying you had forgotten what rain felt like…now it’s back! YAY!

Please do tell me what effect the snow has on the still-standing corn.

Not good. We need the corn to dry and the snow to stay off the shucks so the combine can go through. Sigh.

I adore these photos. Especially the first one – So dramatic and great colours.

Linda – you can keep your snow. Must be so frustrating for Terry and that
corn crop still standing.
We have had two days of pretty solid rain here in Brisbane, but the excellent
news is the rain up north which is breaking the drought – BUT follow up in February
and early March would put smiles on northern outback faces as wide as your
State of Denver. Photos of young kids covered in mud are just so delightful to
see and I am sure no complaints from the parents – ha ha.
Have been watching the overseas weather – Denver and so I presume your region
south has been very cold. Too Brrrrrrrrrrrrr for me.
Cheers
Colin

We’ve been cold. Although, we are west of Denver, nothing like the south part…Alamosa which is terribly cold. YAY! for the rain.

Things will improve once the corn is at the Elevator, that is for sure!

Snow doesn’t remain unmarked for long here. We got a dusting this morning, but the wind took care of that!

How odd…you probably really need some snow!

Beautiful snow. January 5th and still not a flake of snow in NJ. We will just enjoy your snow while we wait for our own….

Such an odd year for you, usually you have feet and feet of snow by now.

As much as I complain about what Mother Nature throws at us–it would certainly be a boring life if the weather never changed. Looks like more snow in our forecast. Gotta find the snow shovel wherever it got hid after the last storm.

If you have snow…then in a short while it will be here!

If it’s snowing at your place, it’s on the way here The first snow is still on the ground, with each storm adding more ~ unusual for here. Stock Show weather for sure. Beautiful photos, Linda~especially like the gray light. There is so much beauty in winter.

Are you heading to the stock show? I don’t think we will this year.

As much as I love going, I doubt it ~ with the snow & ice in lots, I don’t want to take a chance on falling. Call me wimpy 🙂

We did used to cross-country ski and sometimes got to see untouched snow. It is special. I am loving your prose poems … they bring joy to others and I hope that writing helps bring joy to you!
About the follow” button which I don’t have on my blog. I am sorry, but I don’t know how to add one, not sure if it possible on Typepad, which is my platform. Our son started us on it years ago and I have never been ambitious enough to change even though hardly anyone elsle I know uses it. I like it, they are very helpful, but it is different from Word Press or Google which everybody else uses.
I used to have my fav blogs on a thing called Feedly which told me when there were updates, but I got a new computer with Windows 10 and I lost my Feedly and can’t get it back. I have to figure out how to start all over, because I know I have missed some people.

as you know, “we” are having almost “the same weather” as you. slight snow dustings, big warm-up yesterday! and yer knot gonna berleave it, but i got a bunch of firewood cut while Betty cursed insighed @ the Brawnkoze last Sunday, so we can at least read and sip tea in front of a crackling fire, no matter how cold and “bad” it gets …
