Saturday morning around 5:30 we took off with two other jeeping friends for three passes.
The first one started in Basalt, Colorado,
ended in Salida and Buena Vista,
Allie Bell Mine
then we headed up to St. Elmo and on through the passes (two of them)
and finished in Gunnison, Colorado.
We got home at midnight. With water to still change.
Exhausted!
We spent Sunday exhausted.
But we are rested and ready to tackel the week today!

Friends, nature, a change of scene. Sometimes, it’s refreshment enough…

Great passes! What was their condition? Glad you got away for just a while ~ a good time I am sure.

Some snow above timber line. We drove in an afternoon rain, but other than that good!

I’m glad you were able to get away for what looks like a fun trip. Although you came back exhausted, I hope you feel it was worthwhile.

Terry is thinking of another one later on in the month, so I guess he is ready to try another pass.

It was an amazing trip…one mile and hour, but the views were outstanding!

Sounds like fun even though it was a long day! We would like to get a Rubicon, Jeep. FUN

Yes and no…one pass was enough…the rest were endurance tests.

It looks like a beautiful but long drive. It might have been too much driving for me.

One pass would have been enough, the last two were way over the top for us.

Colorado has the most wonderful places. I remember going to Basalt when I was young and going through the back country.

We rarely saw a person! BUT, surprise, surprise, we did run into bicyclers before everything turned into rocks!

So much fun!! That reminds me of my hiking/x-country ski trips to Keystone when I was 16…my first taste of being away from home on my own. Coal mines! Snowy Passes! Avalanches! “Alpine” valleys. Heaven!!!!
