Yesterday, it was just Boomer, myself and the two cats: Sammy and Min-Min. Terry was away doing important things not connected to the farm.
It was a beautiful bright fall day, the air was crisp and warm and the sky the most amazing blue.
Then as the sun set the sky turned into the color of a joyfully blowing leaf..causing me to rush to different parts of the yard to capture the golden light
Then the sun sank below the Uncompahgre (Un-come-pah-gray, accent on the pah) Plateau and the first stars of the evening popped out. The air was decidedly cool.
Today we woke-up to clouds, with a promise of rain in the air. The weather people are saying to plan on rain and light dusting of snow, in our area…more snow in the higher areas tomorrow.
We are hearing the Upper Country and the Mountains are very dry…moisture will be a good thing.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
We never get snow, but just hearing the word depresses me

That’s what the photographers call the golden light or the magic hour. More like the magic minute. That moment, right before the sun sets and the world and all in it are bathed in warmth, no matter what month it is. Can’t tell you how many photoshoots I sat through waiting and waiting for that perfect, timeless, second. Then, click.

A “light dusting of snow…” – a million miles from our strong breezes and strong sunshine yesterday. It was 30°C/86°F with us yesterday, but felt quite comfortable because of the wind. I got home the other day to find the pump in our little pond had stopped working, so I was out there seeing what was wrong, and installing a new, solar powered, pump instead. Slight case of sunburned face because I lost track of time and wasn’t wearing the pink hat 🙂

Pink faces are not a good thing in too much sun.

You got a beautiful photo of the clouds in that blue sky. Please send some rain our way — we desperately need it.

Uncompahgre sounds French? I love the picket fence and tree in silhouette, can I paint it??
