We took our daily run through the cows (a tad chilly, it is out there)
Which means there are quarter of the calves born
And probably more
Because Mom’s hide out their little ones. And if the cow is having her baby she often time will hide herself.
So for right now…there are 25 visible calves on the ground!
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
Quite the cozy nursery.

Yes! Although, it’s a tad chilly with this chilly wind we are having.

They are darling! This time next year they won’t be here, but the following year they will be back as first time Moms!

Ooh, love the mouse colored calf :-D. Is Boomer and his top notch crew keeping the coyotes and bears away?

J > Cold, yes, but apparently dry and still. And that’s a life-saving difference!

The wind is here…blowing about 20-30 mph…terrible. Yesterday it was blowing 10-15 mph. And Cold!

J > So a light breeze then (by our standards)! But dry at least!

Whew! Snowing today. Light breeze…you have some heavy winds then.

That sounds like a lot of calves to me, but I don’t know anything about it. They sure are cute.

The Rancher has five hundred breeding cows…with enough bulls for every 20-25 cows. Plus at lead 10 good horses. He has a big operation.

I always love seeing new calves in the spring. Our neighbor who also has a big cow and hay outfit still has his mamma cows and calves out on the desert wintering grounds. They won’t come home until the grass is up…..and right now there is just snow all over. I hope the sand hill cranes find enough food, everything is pretty much frozen.

A pair of Robins flew in yesterday…and it’s snowing today. Sigh!

You need at least one or two cows to just make you happy. They are really calming to just watch. The grands would love it if you had a milk cow and I am sure it would be as spoiled as Boomer.

We milked for years and years and years. We always raised our own beef and just stopped raising cows about 6 years ago. I do miss them. Although, I don’t miss the twice a day milking. 🙂

The cream colored twins and their mom are just beautiful. That’s a lot of cows with no shelter from the wind or cold. They are all beautiful to look at.

Range cows. Range cows shelter up under all our trees, in our loafing sheds, up on the sage brush hill….

You’ve quite an operation going there. I’d no idea. Where do you keep the cellophane-wrapped beef cattle?
