Today I am counting my blessings:
The first cutting of hay has been cut, dried, baled and stacked.
(And at the time of this writing, several loads of have been sold–loaded up and gone to new homes)
The biggest blessing is the fact Terry had to have an emergency appendix operation Sunday morning—shortly before noon, but is doing much better today.
Thankfully Saturday night we had turned the water back into the canal so I haven’t had to worry with changing and setting of the water.
Our children, near and far, came to see their Dad and to help us while Terry was in the hospital— it made the loading of the sold hay go ever so much easier, than if I had to do it by myself.
They have all gone home now, but the several days Terry was in the hospital I was there with him. That left the kids to pick up our slack plus do their own work also.
What a huge relief!
In the midst of all this, I found another small heart!
It might be a mountain right now, but I know ————— somehow we will get the cultivation of the corn done and we will get the pinto beans planted.
I can do the irrigation…that isn’t even an concern.
The others things will sort themselves out as we proceed forward.
It will just take us (Terry and I) to take it one step at a time…that is really the only way to walk up, across and down and mountain.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
I’m so glad Terry is alright and that you are managing. So happy too that family is close enough to come and surround you. That first photo is incredibly beautiful…the mountains rising in the background. Best wishes to all of you for swift recovery and the strength to keep things moving forward until full health returns.

Thank you! We enjoyed their one day visit, it’s always nice to see those kids. Our other kids do live close by but they all work. Sadly the farm runs on “Terry” but for a couple of weeks it’s going to have to run on me! 🙂

The farm running on “Linda” will be just fine! You can do this!

Well, we will see. The connecting of implements is a huge deal…and changing the seed planters over to pinto beans another huge deal. Terry can stand there and give directions (which is a trying deal for both of us) and I can muddle my way through. Sigh!

J > Oh my, Linda, I wish I lived in your neighbourhood. It would be a joy to step in and help out when you need it. But of course, you’re blessed with family nearby! D and I send our best wishes to Terry for a speedy mend. He’d better get on with it, otherwise he’ll find you all manage just fine without him! Astonishing the transformation of your land from bleak and cold into warm and green (albeit thanks to irrigation).

Yes and that irrigation is something I know how to do! 🙂 It would be nice to have your help. As it is I will just pull on my shoes and pick up the slack. The kids all work so we can’t rely on them…Oh well…one step at a time. One step!

Oh, Linda, my heart is with you. We went through this with Ralph when the kids were small and his mama was still with us. It was so hard to run the farm without him. Prayers for Terry’s speedy recovery and for things to go well for you.

Thanks, Suz! Seems like I’m on a dead run right now…my stuff and the stuff Terry used to do. But if I just breathe deep, and take it one step at a time I’m sure it will all come together.

What a worry for you. I wish him a speedy and full recovery, and both of you the grace and wisdom to slow down and take that mountain at a gentle pace!

Terry has slowed down. 🙂 But his slowing down speeded me up. In two weeks time I hope we are back to normal! That’s my plan anyway! Thank you!

Blade helped load out two hay customers that day. Sure was a relief to have his Dad and him. Then I had a huge load and our other daughter and son-in-law came over. We are making headway…one day at a time.

Of course the heart is a good omen. You will take it slowly, accept help from friends and family, and put one foot in front of the other till everything is back to normal. Thank goodness Terry is OK. That is the second appendicitis I heard of this week! Hang in there.

Life has a way of stopping you in your tracks sometimes when you’re least expecting it. But you’re stronger than you know and you’re both on the road to recovery so take a cue from Boomer on how to laze around, don’t be shy in asking for and accepting help and know we’re all praying for you.

Thanks for sharing Linda, we will pray for a complete recovery for Terry and that you will be given an extra measure of strength and wisdom to take care of things. I just thought of a bit of scripture that I will share that fits right now. It is Philippians 4:19 and says, My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Take care Linda, we are pulling for you and many of us would pitch in if we were near you. Be assured of our love and concern.

Linda, Power of Prayer 🙏 be with you and Terry and your children. We wish we could be good neighbors at a time like this but we can think of you and send good thoughts and encouragement. Does Terry need to rest in bed or in front of TV 📺 for two weeks? Sorry I was so late today. Love your photos. How did Boomer take your absence?

Boomer went to stay with his dog cousins, which means “PARTY TIME!” I’m so glad Shannon doesn’t mind having him. So far Terry is doing ever so much better. The farming needs are wearing him down (worry), but we will get it mastered. Thank you for the prayers! They are much appreciated!

I’m so late here but I want to add my prayers to the pile so you both get all the help you need to get everything done without to much stress I am so happy Terry got to the hospital in time and he is recovering nicely. I know you are worrying about getting it done alone. Maybe there will be some special helpers along the way. After all, you were sent another beautiful heart. Giant squishy hugs, M
