We have begun! The last of our crops are now being harvested. Sometime in the next two weeks, with fingers crossed and the creek doesn’t rise,
Our fields of corn will be at the elevator
Then it will be time to put the whole farm to bed and work on fences until the cows come in.
But all that is down the road a spell…for right now we will enjoy
Getting the corn off the shucks and into the truck!
And down to the Elevator. This is an old photo from January 2016….the year the corn would NOT dry down until January. It shows you where we go to deliver our harvest.
Anyway…we are up and running now!
And THAT is a very good thing!
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
A very good thing—YAY! for you guys. I love watching the different harvests in our Valley. MY late husband and I would be there for the farmers–(yeah right) We were the sidewalk superintendents.
Now I am still in the apple trees as are the Flickers and Jays.,
I hope prices are good this year

Not good price wise for anything this year. Pinto Beans are way down, onions way down, sweet corn held it’s own, and the corn is down the only thing up was alfalfa.

I’m happy to hear that the corn harvest is underway. I hope the weather cooperates and that you get the entire crop harvested in record time.

Me too—although today it acts like snow in the air.

Wow Linda….I forgot that in 2016 it took until January for you to be able to harvest your corn. What a long wait you had that year. How was last year? Can’t wait to hear that your corn harvest is all completed!!! You are such hard workers!!!

We are in a stopping spot again. The rain came so we stop until we dry up. Last year went as a normal year. Normal years are nice.

At least we are started! Although, the rain has caused us to stop again! 🙂

Well, we started at least, but had to stop…rain came so we wait until we dry up again. Start stop…start…but gradually we will make it.

I hope your harvesting goes well! We finally got our beans off just last week, right before another few days of rain.

Bad weather set in so we wait again.

Glad harvest got started, but that is a VERY ominous header you have today!😐 They were to start cotton harvest here today, but high winds and blowing dust is preventing that. ☹️
Prayers for better weather, huh?! Blessings!
