My 12th Birthday Party, A Sherlock Boomer Adventure, Chapter Three

My Thirteenth 12th Birthday

Chapter Three

We made it to the house, I yipped until Mom came to the door.  Chris was really nervous.  “Just remain calm, Chris. Tell Mom your story, I am positive she can help you.  And if she can’t help you I’ll bet you can live with me.”  I put a paw on Chris’ shoulder.

Mom opened the door and just stood there staring at us.  Right at that moment the little grandchild visiting us rushed right out and yelled that I had brought a friend home.

In Chris and I bounded.  Chris stopped on his way by my bedroom and got a really long drink of water out of my water dish, then he spied my cereal and woofed down four or five huge mouthfuls.  All the while the little granddaughter kept calling for us to come to see her.

Only after Chris’ got his thirst slacked and his tummy full did he head into the woodstove room to get loves.

Mom followed us in.

“Goodness, Boomer, where did this little fellow come from?”  She reached down and patted my back.

“Out on the farm…I tried to tell her.  He was lost and trying to get home.”  I tried with all my doggie might, but Mom just doesn’t know how to understand unspoken words.

“Well, let us see what we can do to find his home.” Mom said to Dad and Tally.  Then Mom got on the phone and started calling neighbors…no one knew the dog or even knew who might have a dog like Chris.

Then Mom started called the Vet Clinics in Delta — Yep!  Very soon she got a vet who knew the dog, knew the person who owned the dog, knew where the dog lives and the dog’s Mom’s phone number.

Mom then called Chris’ Mom and she was there in 10 minutes flat.  Chris and his family live two miles up the road from us…just two more miles and Chris would have made it home.

Still, I told Chris, “it’s a very good thing you came here…I promise you Coyotes live on the farm”!

We all waved goodbye to Chris as he sat in the backseat waving his little paw back at all of us.

Well, a good thing accomplished during my 12th Birthday Adventure.

Now…back to checking out the farm…I still want to go see some of my friends!

  1. ju u u ust today: I was driving home down HWY 141 and towards the bottom was a healthy-looking dog (older, lab/wiemeraner (sp) mix?) with collar walkin’ down the hwy — I tried to get him/her to get in the truck so’s I could look @ the tag and call in — but he/she would not let me (nor 3 other cars which stopped to try to help) anywhere near! Betty says that perhaps the dog was returning home to houses about a mile away, so I hope …
