I saw a Western Meadow Lark, a bird I just love to see and hear. That is a photo off the All About Birds web site, but I wanted you to see what one looks like! 🙂
I thought I heard one the other day, but today I actually saw one
Even though the storm clouds are playing with us
The spring birds are coming back!
Spring is coming…for certain and for sure!
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
J > Two steps forward, one back, but that’s still forward. We had icy cold showers today, thrown into our faces by a gale force wind – like needles!

Brrrr…stay inside and keep warm. Although, you have those lovely sheep to take care of in spite of the weather.

J > The sheep have a solution for that : they would like to come indoors with us!

D > The fine and unseasonably pleasant weather last week encouraged our local skylarks to sing much earlier in the year than usual. But as the weather has switched back to winter mode for a while, the skylarks haven’t so much changed their tune, as given up entirely – for now. Your American skylarks are so much more brightly coloured than our European variety – and I bet their bigger too. But I bet the effect they have on our souls is just the same – Joyous and uplifting!

So happy you’re seeing the beautiful spring birds returning.
gosh…isn’t that meadowlark a beauty? Spring must really be coming back to your area. Lucky you. Our snow piles are higher than the houses this year…We set a new snowfall record this winter…so it will take a lot of melting to get rid of it all, when it finally decides to warm up. Do you see any crocus or snowdrops or daffodils coming up anywhere yet?

I have tiny little shoots poking up of spring bulbs, but that is all. You have so much snow flooding will be the next terrible worry. 😦
