Someone forged a comment on a wonderful blog that I follow using my blog email and blog address as the author of the comment.
The lovely lady contacted me in a private email, slightly admonishing me in a very gentle way.
Here is the nasty ugly comment I supposedly wrote: “I must admit not a lover of cats here at all as am super super allergic to them all but your kitty is very nice and glad you have a “mews” friend and is pretty kitty.Busy too buy the looks .You have a lovely home there .so happy for you you still like Gotland.”
A comment like that is so unlike me….so very unlike me. It breaks my heart someone would be so cruel as to use my name in such a hurtful way.
From my very sorry heart to your world,
Linda
OMG, that is SO not you! That’s awful someone did that. I don’t know how they did it, but dang – just not right or nice. I am so sorry that happened to you!

The author of the blog has been so kind and understanding about everything it makes it some what better, but on the whole it is still terrible to have someone write ugly in my name.

That is terrible! What a rotten shame! You are unfailingly one of the nicest people I encounter on the Internet….never a harsh word, no snark, no nastiness, never a single naughty thing. And your grammar and spelling is much better than that. I am so sorry!

Oh! Thank you so much, Marianne! I hope this does not happen you or to anyone else it is awful

Thanks Connie. It was a terrible shock to find out in a rather mean way I had hurt someone else I didn’t even mean to hurt.

I only know you from your blog. Anyone that knows you would see that those words would not have come from you. I have always admired how your words flow with your photo’s.

That is NOTHING like you and how in the world were they able to do it????

I think it is easy to copy and paste the email from my blog site and address then it made it seem like I did it. 😦

Why would someone do something like that? Does the world really need a few illiterate screwballs to balance out the nice people like Linda from Colorado?

I guess so. Octavia was very nice and very gentle and very kind, still I felt like I harmed a nice person. The sad part is I never comment on her blog, then to have something like that put up there…..sigh.

There are way too many twisted individuals on the web. I don’t know what can be done about them, but I’m positive that anyone at all that knows anything about you would realize there is something wrong with that comment.

Dear Linda, it’s a shock and it was nasty to have your identity ‘kidnapped’, but the whole world knows that’s not what you’re like. Firstly, we know perfectly well you’re not allergic to cats, and secondly, you know your spelling and grammar. If I’d had that come through to me, I’d have know in a flash it wasn’t you. Be at peace. Your friends know you.

Thank you, Kate…but Octavia doesn’t really know me so that was the bad part.

How awful to do this to anyone. Not your style at all. I am such a neophyte in the techie world after all this time I wouldn’t even know how to do that and I would never think of it in the first place. Ignore it!

I’m with the rest of the commenters here. We all know you do NOT write comments or anything like that. Your prose is so skilled that I don’t believe you could even think in that kind of language. I wonder if WP can figure out how someone did this and if they are aware. Looks like someone needs to get a life. Thanks for making us aware there is a nut loose out there. We can be on our toes now.

Well, that’s just ridiculous Linda, and I’m sorry it happened to you. I have seen a couple of other troll-type comments on some of my favorite blogs lately, and some much meaner than what you supposedly wrote. I wish there was a way to catch these people. Evidently they have nothing better to do. Hope nothing like this happens again to you or anyone else.

ME TOO! I still think it’s terrible, but all I can do is move on.

I did not know that could be done either. Guess I have been lucky. We can’t let the one in a thousand ruin things for the 999 decent folks. That goes for all aspects of our lives. Please don’t let this effect your blog as I look forward to it each day! Thank You for the daily lift!!

This is horrible! I’d change your passwords if you haven’t already. And I’d check in with WP and see what they have to say. They should be protecting your account from spam and hackers…

With the exception of the use of your name and email, this does not seem like a serious problem to me. Am I missing something? I mean, you were able to explain to the person who got the comment that you did not send it; and it is obvious to that person that you did not send it because of the way it is written. The comment does not seem to be too terribly offensive. So what if someone is allergic to kitties? Anyway, I do not think you should worry about anything more than the hijacking of the name and address.
Because I manage the Facebook page ‘Felton League’ I am often accused of all sorts of weird behavior, including selling drugs.
