This morning, the wild marvelous Canada Geese, came to the cornfield next to our house
The air thrummed with the swoosh, swoosh, swoosh of their vigorous flight.
The calls of one to another like a roaring current of waves
Then the Snow Geese came…
Filling in the blank spots among the Canada Geese
The Geese have one cornfield next to our house, and the Sandhill Cranes have another cornfield behind our house—Good Manner’s you see.
What a huge marvelous blessing! The heartbeat of the large winter birds, rustling around in the corn stalks, whispering promises to each other, talking loudly in the wind.
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
You are blessed.

I suspect there are plenty at our coast. In this area, occasionally see a Blue Heron around the river. Up to three years ago, I saw many Heron, ducks, geese… I haven’t seen any in two years…

There has been a lot of construction in the old Daniel Boone antiques section. We used to have an enormous area just off I-85 where there were many antique shops. Back in the 60s, there was a little railroad with riding cars around it and, it had an ice skating rink. There also used to be a huge statue of Daniel Boone. It has all been bulldozed to make way for mixed housing. It has been a slow process as sewer & water lines have had to be re-done. Everyone wants to move to a small town…until it isn’t small anymore and traffic is terrible.
The townsfolk have been arguing about a bypass for 35 years. Nothing has ever happened. With this major construction project, they (and we, by extension) will wish they had. This town is mostly positioned between I-85 & US70. The limits don’t quite stretch down to I-40…yet…

Sigh! We have lots of city people moving here (to be in the country) they speed down our small country roads, get lost because of no real street signs, complain that it’s DARK and want street lamps…oh the list goes on and on.

Urbanites can be a giant pain in the ass. They flee bad policies from wherever they came from, then proceed to reestablish the same crap.

Yes. That is exactly what we see here.

More likely born out of laziness. Not many live on and work the land like you and Dad. They want everything done for them and, once you ask for that, the gubment types take over. Corruption soon follows.
