Huddled Down for the Winter — Tuesday, November 16, 2021

As I was picking up the orange dams, I came across a whole pile of

Wooly worms, all curved up, in a deep sleep

I gathered each one up and walked them over to a pile of wood boards we use off and on in the canals and ditches

There I placed them, one-by-one to sleep away the dark Winter.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

  1. What kind of winter were your wooly worms predicting? Mountain lore around here says you can tell what kind of winter is coming by the color of the worms. The more black there is means there will be a harsher winter.

  3. Linda, the little wooly worms made me remember a little wooly that was in our Sons closet. My Husbands Grandmother passed away. Her Daughter came and she stayed at our house in Seans room. One morning she got up and called for Sean to come in his room. There was a black wooly worm. It was an interesting thought how he came in the house, but that it was in Seans room.. They talked about that for a long time. Sean took him outside.
