The Adventures of Boo Berry Betty and TLC Cai-Cai on Friday—-What is Happening Here, Friday, June 14, 2024

There have been LOTS of goings on here

I mean LOTS!!!

Yep!  Every day!

Not the same people (well, sometimes they make two trips)

They are after the same stuff

Mom says this all good!  I should remember this from last year.

I remember.  It just —

It just cuts down on my mousing!!

So I go inside when Boo Berry barks the big trucks and trailers down the road.

Besides it’s hot out there!

  1. That load of bales brings back memories of the wonderful smell of newly put up hay. A lot of work, though. First, we’d fill the 10,000 bale hay shed, then another 1500 in the barn’s hay loft. Next, we’d stack about 3,000 bales in Grandpa’s hay barn and the rest would be placed in outdoor stacks, then covered with silage plastic (polyethylene). Drought is common on the Plains so during some years Dad would have to buy hay and straw from neighbors. He’d purchase it still standing so we’d bale it. I remember that straw cost him 5 cents a bale if we baled it and those were big bales! Now, Co-Op gets $8-10 bucks a bale for tiny little ones!
