The New Bike and it is Green, of Course!

New-Bike-001

But it isn’t pink, nor does it have a basket and the toys are still missing, but still….it is new!

We are going away for a weekend holiday! We are leaving tomorrow for ….I don’t know, but someplace overnight.

This is unheard of; never in all our years of farming have we EVER left for a holiday in the middle of spring farm work.  But we are now!

Since Evan is home (no he doesn’t live with us) and he knows all about what the farm needs, and it’s a few days to early to plant beans, AND the alfalfa isn’t quite ready to be turned into hay, we are going to go someplace!

I don’t care where, to a tractor junkyard, or a tractor dealer in Nebraska, or Kansas, or Oklahoma.  Or a trip to the Indian reservation, I’m not picky – some place different, someplace to see how the farms are fairing, someplace to just relax and not think about what I need to be doing now.

Summer is just about upon us, that means weeds, mowing the lawn, moving water, you know.  So I’m taking this holiday as the gift it is meant to be!

See ya on Monday!

  1. Hope you have a great relaxing time. I keep thinking, what holiday? My calender is upstairs and I am to lazy to go up. I was hoping she would get her bike and toys back.

  2. If you decide to fly you could come down here. We are expecting a cool front to come in this weekend.

Poor baby! The bike is just not the same and I’m sure she doesn’t understand how wretched some people are.

  3. Have a great holiday, you certainly have earned it. Is that a John Deere Bike? I hope the guilty party comes clean and returns your granddaughter’s bike and stuffed animals.

  4. Have a great trip….you deserve it after picking up all that trash this spring 😉 I can hardly believe you’re getting ready to cut hay already, the hay here is barely up and they’ve just started the irrigating. It was 23* this morning too………maybe THAT has something to do with it’s slowness?!!

  5. Enjoy your time away,so nice your son is willing to take over to let you have a break :0)Maybe Grandpa or Daddy might attatch a little basket on the back of the new bike, looks like one might fit there nicely.

  6. How wonderful! I remember never taking vacations when we were on the ranch. Sometimes, during the summer, my mom and brother and I would go to the cabin for a week, but dad and the hired hands stayed home. I suppose that’s as close to “summer in the Hamptons” as I’ll ever get. 🙂 Probably as close as I ever would WANT to get.

  7. Bless her little heart. I wish I could magically make her pink bike and all her stuffed animals reappear for her.
Glad you are getting some time away! Enjoy!

  8. Growing up, I don’t ever remember any of those farmer relatives of mine ever taking a trip. Maybe a quickie day trip between cow feedings to Yellowstone for a picnic or something but never an overnight real trip/vacation.

  9. I am just catching up, finally! I hope you enjoyed your little vacation, and got plenty of rest!

I am so very upset over Linkin losing her bike. That is just so terrible and very disturbing. I hope she enjoys the new green one. I am so hoping someone would do the right thing and bring her bike back.
