Our Part of the Country

This past week has been busy.  A farming neighbor, two farms away had a farm sale;

They are moving to Las Vegas, Nevada.

The last of the hay was baled and stacked

We went to an antique tractor auction

We took Evan and his son (our oldest grandchild) on a train ride

In between all of this the house and yard work continued, irrigation and cultivating went on, and the SUN came out plus the wind went away.

Ahhh, life is good!

  1. A TRAIN RIDE?? Where did the train ride go?
What is the name of the RR line? This is probably an excursion ride?

I love trains. General Electric Train Locomotive Plant is located in Erie PA. And train tracks are many in Erie County, where I live.

I totally love all Trains! My Father used to be a Brakeman on the Train in the Steel Mills in Cleveland Ohio……many years ago, in my childhood.

When I was 12 yrs. old, my sister and I rode the El Capitan Super Chief across country to California – it took 3 days and nights. Wow – what an adventure that was!

Do write more about your train ride! Thanks! 🙂

  4. I love riding on trains. JR and I took the Durango train a long time ago. He really enjoyed it. Me, not so much. That whole altitude sickness thing strikes again.

You’ve been busy. Try to relax a bit.

  5. I second Liz’s comments…i’m the daughter of a train geek that will be very curious, once i share your post with him.

thanks for posting about your daily life as well as your farm. i’ve learned so much this spring from your blog as we are hoping to get into the farming biz ourselves (only much smaller scale.) it’s good to see that there can be life outside of the farm during spring and summer. :o)

    take care…

  7. What a beautiful day!

Las Vegas??? Why would anybody want to go there? LOL Well, there’s tennis year ’round, and great star viewing, but — oh, get out of town and maybe some cheap land, but nothing else.

Look at those clear blue skies! I loved seeing your day. 🙂 Thanks!

  8. Why would anyone move to Las Vegas from your beautiful, rural community? I hope the farm isn’t going to be subdivided. Anyway, I enjoyed your wonderful photos and I’m glad life is good.
