Last Irrigation of the Year

I-Can-Beat-You

Fuzzy Doddle McDoodle Dude Brown loves to change water.

Up-the-Ditch

And it isn’t just running with the four-wheeler, and it isn’t just running in the ditches, it’s the water.

 Chaning-Water

He just loves the water!

Pooped-Pup

But when you run very, very fast over acres and acres, and You Are Old, like your people…..it just plain wears you out!

Sticker-in-the-Paw

Plus a sticker in the paw is a good excuse to rest!

  1. Hi Linda,
I was never quite sure how these little pipes over the mound worked. But on our recent trip to the north, we saw the same irrigation pipes at the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, which was created in 1963 and provides water to farming communities of 117 sq. km from Lake Argyle which covers 741 sq. km and is Australia’s largest dam. The scheme was initially intended to grow rice but was unsuccessful as the many parrots just treated the farms as a smorgasbord by eating all the seeds. Today they grow mainly sandalwood which is used to harvest essential oils. As they say: You learn something every day.

  2. Fuzzy Doddle McDoodle Dude Brown! That name just cracks me up. I’d love to hear you call him for dinner. Lovely pics of him helping with the irrigation. I saw these types of irrigation pipes for the first time in the Ord River catchment area in WA.

  3. What a great old farm dog, I’m sure over the years he has earned his “keep”. It looks dry there, pretty green here. Farmer here was able to get three cuttings in one of our field’s and two in another. Corn still not very tall.
