Our cow pasture and the canal banks are full of fall colors

All our dairy and ranching neighbors are chopping corn

and the Maximilian sunflower “Prairie Sunflower” has bloomed. Once it blooms a heavy frost is on its way.
I looked on the Delta, CO weather site and it looks like our night time temperatures are dropping into the late 40’s and early 30’s next week.
I love fall with the warm days and the cool nights. I like that the really hard work is starting to come to an end, and the really good feeling that the cellar is full, the grain bins are full and the hay stacks fat and tall. I like the idea of the holiday’s coming. I vow to not think about the long winter following. But after that dark and dreary time is SPRING. I can hardly wait!
It’s not 100 degrees here any more, that means it’s fall.

You’ve way more color than we do yet. I wonder if that prairie sunflower would grow here. I’ve never seen it before.

I always enjoy the cooler temp´s after a hot summer too. I guess we always have something to look forward to.

I love the cooler nights, too, but here they certainly aren’t as cool as your nights already!

Wow. It’s easy to forget how early winter comes in the Rocky Mountain area.
Exciting, as the weather changes!

I love your cow pasture and the big view of the horizon. Great Fall photos. How great to have a flower for a weather forecaster.

Your seasons are so well defined compared to ours. We don’t get fall colours in Brisbane but in the highlands and down in the southern states they do. You sound well prepared for the winter.

I was glad corn chopping happened after school started so I didn’t have to be involved.

We are having spring rains. Heavy rains. More rain now than what we got in the actual spring time! Crazy. I love your signs of fall… but the 30’s is cold!! Wow –

Our trees are starting to change now and the next town over had it’s Fall Festival today. I guess it’s starting. But I love this weather; the cool to cold nights and the warmer days are such a lovely juxtaposition!

I love the pictures, it was down to 37 or below this morning here, had to cover all my plants last night so they wouldn’t freeze!

Tree’s here are starting to turn, the yellows and reds are peeping through on the hills. I love the smell of chopping corn and that crispness that seems to float on the air in the fall.

We too are experiencing spectular weather. I love these warm days and cool nights. No corn chopping here as of yet. The flower gardens have perked up and are lovely. I try and enjoy each and every minute, because I know what is right around the corner!

Your fall colors are beautiful and way ahead of ours. We are barely seeing any color but that can change very quickly here. I have never seen a prairie sunflower, it is beautiful. I think I will do a little research and see if we have those here.
Have a great day,
Judy
