ThreeCollie-We got to see the blue moon on New Year’s Eve so that was a cool treat. I love the full moon, and then to see the vast expanses of the stars…WOW♥.
Debi-You are so right…. There is also a time of silence, then the wind will start, sometimes a breeze at first sometimes a wind. If we are really, really lucky the clouds will just gather and shake out huge fluffy flakes of snow. Now THAT is my favorite part of a snowstorm. Fat fluffy flakes of snow drifting through the silent skies. ♥
The little bitty wind driven hard as nails snowflakes leave a lot to be desired.
Janice-I suppose your weather is heading our way. It is really hard to go do livestock in nasty weather. But one good thing is to know that they don’t like it either. It’s really cloudy now, but the temperature is staying around 20*. Wind is the biggest issue in a storm, then after the storm the horrible cold.
I like your new format with the replies, if required, to the various bloggers. I think it keeps everyone more so in the “picture”.
I very much doubt if there would be too many of your viewers wanting to share your snow.
The latest cloud photos are very interesting. Especially the mountains and trees in the background – they don’t appear to have snow on them? Are you experiencing a lot of wind with the snow storms?
Still raining on and off in sub-tropical Brisbane and the humidity is horrible.
Cheers

ps: Well every day gone by gets you closer to Spring and then the “real” joys (” hard yakka”) of farming life with the crop planting.
Hope you are not snowed under. I love proverbs and they are right more often it seems than the weather forecast. At least proverbs are more fun! Lovely sky!
Lovely photos. The sun is shining here but the temperature has dipped into the high teens; with even colder weather predicted for the coming weekend. Looks like you’ll be needing your shovel, stay safe!
We too are anxiously awaiting today’s storm. It’s not supposed to be too too snowy here, but tonight’s low is supposed to get below zero. Isn’t it fun! Tuck in those critters! Vikki at http://vikkisverandah.blogspot.com
Pam-It does! You are so right! And I am lucky because I can see 360* without any houses.
Leenie-The break is nice. Even cold weather allows activity outside, whereby blowing snow doesn’t. I’m also glad we aren’t snowed in…♥

Accuweather.com says Canada and the US are experiencing the worst winter ever.
“This Winter May Be Worst Since 1985
While frigid air is already in place, yet another brutal shot of arctic air will grip the entire eastern two-thirds of the nation through Saturday. The last time severely low temperatures froze a large swath of the nation was in 1985. New waves of cold air will continue to spread southward from Canada in the coming weeks, possibly causing this winter also to rival the bitterly cold winters of 1982 and 1977-78. Some of the greatest temperature departures from average this winter may yet to come.”
Diane-So far it’s storming all around us, but hasn’t started right here as I write. All the surrounding mountains are getting 8-10″ . It can stay up there, I don’t mind it up there. 🙂
Julie-My chickens keep thinking they want outside, but I just don’t dare let them go. Misty let hers out the other day and the frozen snow cut up their feet too bad. Yesterday one of the hens made a mad dash out the door as I was filling their corn feeder. She ran to woodpile with the most shocked look on her face, then bolted back inside. Just like people who think they know what they want and find out it isn’t.
I had a big laugh at her expense!
Lisa-Thank you. Ours aren’t pretty today. I loved your Blue photos!
HB-Lots of snow up there. So much so that the snowpack is above normal. Above normal snowpack means we shouldn’t be rationed on water this year. Then again as I write this I forgot that there is a huge water war going on for our water so who knows. But anyway, yes there is snow…lots of snow. The trees closer have experienced wind and almost thaw so there isn’t any snow hanging on their branches. Maybe tonight there will be.
We do get wind with the snow, most of the time, ugly cold bitter wind that flies at you sideways. Nasty stuff.
I’m glad for your rain! Rain is just so wonderful for the parched earth. Humidity is a bit much, but hey everyone will have lovely skin there! 🙂
Beautiful photos…our skies have been very humdrum lately except for the moon at night.
