It’s Raining

The early sweet corn farmers and the onion growers are really starting to get more than concerned.  Those seeds need to be in the ground next week.  It’s not going to happen. We are still way too wet.

It’s all a little daunting.  It’s going to take lots of sun and some wind if our crops are going to make into the ground on time.

March is sure acting Lion like!

  1. Sorry to read that it is raining there still. We have had too much rain for three years now and it is a disaster for crops. Hope it dries out real soon both there and here…btw it is amazing to me to read about preparations for sweet corn! We won’t be on the ground at all for at least six weeks. lol Probably more.

  2. I’ll cross my fingers for some sun for you. It’s been pretty gray around here these days but it’s really warm. I’m going to plant my basil this coming weekend.

  3. Do farmers change the crops they plant to crops that mature in a shorter length of time if they can’t plant when they should?
I do hope the farmers will be able to plant soon. It is supposed to snow here tonight.

  4. Farming always seems to be a gamble with the weather ! We have frost again, a clear blue sky and a cold wind from the North. It even snowed a tiny little bit yesterday. Farmers are complaining too because there are seeds that should have been in already ! But eventually, I’m sure things will go right, like they always do…
