On the Move

The ranchers and farmers who have lots of cows are bringing them home for the winter.

The grandchildren ALWAYS enjoy seeing all the cattle going by.

Have a nice weekend every one!

  1. I would have named each cow as it walked by. Then made up stories about how they were feeling, what they were thinking, and where they thought they were going. My imagination is not quite as placid as the cows, it seems.

  2. On our island, there is a huge nursery that grows lots of trees and shrubs. They use a mule team for all their cultivation. Because they have large fields scattered around town, the mules trot right up the major roads to get from one to another. My kids would run to the roadside whenever they heard the jangling of harness and clip-clop of hooves…

Not exactly hundreds of cattle going past, but pretty cool, all the same.

  3. There has just been a report on the evening news of someone being killed by a bull when crossing a field (on a public path) ……. perhaps I won’t get quite so close to the fence when I take photos of the fabulous bull in a field that I pass regularly!

  4. We never had cattle which was fine by me. Get this Linda. Life is good back in Iowa. It’s a first-no bitching. $5.50 corn and $12.40 beans. At least the one I talked to anyway.

  5. This brings back a lot of memories. It’s been around 30 years ago that we had cows up the road from our house (1/2 mile) and in the Fall we would drive them down the town road. It was so much fun to see. Now there are so many house that the neighbors wouldn’t like the cows going on there lawns.
