Summer’s Good-Bye, Winter Arrives

We headed to the city yesterday

Although, the wind was blowing I saw a rainbow!  Just lovely for a November day.

On the way home

(the rainbow is there, you just have to really look for it.)

On the way home another one appeared.  Summer’s last gift to us.

January arrived over night!

It’s cold here right now.  21*.  So far the corn is standing.  Maybe this cold will bring the moisture content down.  Maybe.

  1. This came to mind as I saw those beautiful colors and the promise from Him.

    Keith Green ~ Stained Glass

    We are like windows
Stained with the colors of the rainbow
    Set in a darkened room
Till the bridegroom comes a shining through

Then the colors fall around our feet
    Over those we meet
Covering all the gray that we see
    Rainbow colors of assorted hues
    Come exchange your blues
For His love that you see shining through me

We are His daughters and sons
    We are the colorful ones
We are the kids of the King
    Rejoice in everything

    My colors grow so dim
When I start to fall away from Him
But up comes the strongest wind
That He sends to blow me back into his arms again

And then the colors fall around my feet
    Over those I meet
Changing all the gray that I see
Rainbow colors of the Risen Son
    Reflect the One
The One who came to set us all free

We are His daughters and sons
    We are the colorful ones
We are the kids of the King
    Rejoice in everything

    We are like windows
Stained with colors of the rainbow
No longer set in a darkened room
Cause the bridegroom wants to shine from you
No longer set in a darkened room
Cause the bridegroom wants to shine from you

  2. It’s supposed to be 22F here tonight in California’s Central Valley. If there’s anything left of this storm by the time it gets across the Sierras, I hate to imagine how cold it will be in your part of the country. Maybe it will freeze-dry that corn. I sure wish your crop was in and you had a nice winter house in Palm Springs to visit for a couple of months.

  3. See it’s true you learn something new every day, I had no idea corn was harvested so late in the season I guess I never thought about it before. I hope you get your crop in. Stay warm.

  4. I just love snow! I’m so glad we now live where I can see snow every winter. Was a drastic change for a gal that grew up in central Louisiana dreaming of snow!

  5. You live in the most beautiful area of the country and to me it doesn’t matter the weather, it’s always gorgeous. I hope it doesn’t get too cold because I know you don’t like it. If it makes you feel better, it’s cold here too.

  6. I just love the beauty of winter. We have only had a couple of dustings so far. It was 46* here today, we have had such a long fall it makes Christmas seem further away. I will have to get caught up on your goings on, live can get busy.
