The rancher who rents our farm for winter pasture called this morning and said he was ready to bring his cows in, he wondered if we were ready for him. He said he had about 80 cows left to calve out —
Terry told him to come on up.
Once Davis’s cows hit the bean field they didn’t stop until they got to the hay field.
But what was funny were our cows….they were up in the corn field when they noticed all of the commotion down at the gate…suddenly it dawned on them ….their friends were back! Our cows reached the others just about the time Davis’s cows hit the hayfield.
Ahhhhh!
Linda

Haha. That’s cute. And a lot of cows! Have a great weekend! 🙂

This surely must be a sign that Spring is coming. I only hope that is correct.

Oh, what a delightful peek into your life on the farm! And your pictures are really lovely (I think the first an second would look great, framed!). It’s so interesting to hear how keen your own cows were to meet up with their nomadic friends. For those of us who grew up in towns and cities, I guess this fact would not ever have occurred to us! But, my parents used to have a holiday home at the Breede River in South Africa and were surrounded by farmlands filled with grazing sheep and goats (mostly), but also some cattle and my Mum used to say she could tell each ones personality. She said they were all so different (which of course you already know!), but for anyone driving past, and not taking the time to stop and observe & notice these things, they probably all just end up looking pretty generic!
I really enjoyed this post and I’m almost embarrassed to ask, but in your last post, what precisely is a ‘sun dog’ ? I know I should quickly do an internet search & find out for myself..but I’ve posed the question to you rather 😉

They look happy if cows can look happy. It looks quite a bit like early spring there.

When we are glad to see an old friend we say ‘ Now aren’t you a sight for sore eyes!’ Maybe the cows think the same. LOL
Good post. thanks. Good to see it is better weather– we have 40 degrees today and water is pooling. Our forecast for the coming week is for more of the same.
