In spite of the wind, the rain, and the spitting snow (mostly a very cold wind) the Consignment Sale of the season was well attended. Although, I didn’t go down on either Saturday or Sunday I did go with Terry on Monday to pick up our ‘new to us’
8-bale hay stacker. Now that we are both way over 60 those hay bales have been getting heavier and heavier and heavier. Terry bought this little number (they are very hard to fid) for a good price.
Needless to say we are both really excited about it.
Linda

Glad you got the stacker! Looks pretty good.

Linda: glad you got that! My dear friend ripped her rotater cuff a few years back slinging hay bales (she was over 50 then and shouldn’t have been doing it anyway). Ended up with surgery and is ok now but we have to remember that we aren’t as young as we used to be and just can’t do everything our brain thinks we can! ha ha

We used one of those once upon a time. Good deal as long as your bales are good and snug. Flimsy built bales will just fall apart. So the trade off is you don’t have to lift them all every time but to have it work, you have to have a bale that you’ll know is there when you do have to lift it.

My husband is over 60 and moans and groans everytime he has to stack hay. He would LOVE one of these.

They use to use them things across the river but since round bales became the norm….you just don’t see them anymore.

When the large round balers were invented it was a life saver as there is no man in the world who can lift one. Life is going to be better with this.

Definately a need and not a want! Sure will come in handy.

Is that a Chevy C60 parked next to the Stackhand? We used to use a Stackhand and still use our C60. We always used small bales until three or four years ago when the guys built a hay spear (4 spears) to hook onto the frontend loader. Oh my, we will not go back to small bales! One person, one tractor and the hay is fed in 1/4th the time. The Stackhand sure put up a lot of tons of hay over the years and worked well. Hope yours works well, too.

Way to shop, Linda! Smart to find just what you needed and at a good price. That show put some years on your life and life in your years not to be slinging bales this summer.
