Kindle

For my birthday I was given a Kindle…I didn’t think I would like one…I love to hold books in my hand, I like to turn the pages, and if it’s a really good book I like to pass it around for others to read.

BUT!!!!!

I am enjoying my Kindle very much!  I have only downloaded three books, and am in the process of reading the first book…Kindle reading is really nice, you can see the pages really well, and you can turn the pages slick as a whistle, best of all I just slip it in my purse so when I have ‘waiting time’.  You know—that time while Terry goes into the parts house, or searches through a salvage yard, or is at a farm auction…I can slip far far away in another land provided by my Kindle. (as I am doing in the photo…reading my Kindle while waiting.)

So I have the best of both worlds…books when I want them and Kindle when we are someplace where I am bored.

Pretty Cool this new world of Technology.

  1. I felt the same way about the Kindle as you did. Or, maybe I should say I feel the same way about books. I like being able to flip back to …. oh, about here…. to find something. That’s harder on the Kindle. Although, if I could remember some key words of what I was looking for I could search for it! Our Library offers quite a few Kindle eBooks on loan and since I’m an Amazon Prime member, I can get quite a number of books for free from Amazon! Right now I’m reading The Hunger Games, and got that one free!

  2. I felt the same way when I got my Kindle as a gift a few years back. There are still some books I prefer to read as books – but the Kindle is wonderful for traveling and toting around. I use it a lot!

  3. I agree with Thomas… both are good. i LOVE LOVE LOVE my kindle. I end up buying quite a few of the “deal a day” books (usually .99c) via Amazon. Lots of history books which I adore. Also as Cyndi mentions, the library has a great lending program. Heck, I can even play scrabble if i get too bored sitting at the Doctor’s office. 😉 And if I find i can’t really get into a certain book, that’s OK because I have a couple hundred more to choose from. Also (and then I’ll stop) I upload all my history pdfs (after converting with Calibre – free and very worthwhile) so I can read them off the computer or without printing 30 pages for one-time reading.

OK… I’m done. Happy for you and keep us in the loop on great discoveries!

    Wishing you peace,
    Meadow

  4. I have never been disappointed with my Kindle, and I don’t begin to know all the tricks it can perform. I was most amazed when I was working at the Office of Education. We had an Admin certification program and, instead of ordering a bunch of very expensive textbooks, we provided each student a basic Kindle with all the books on it. All we had to do was buy a group license (10 Kindles in a group), upload all the books onto the first Kindle, put the rest in synch mode, and the books were automatically uploaded to them as well. I really like the feel of my Kindle. I hated reading paperbacks because they print the type too close to the center margin and you have to practically break the book to be able to read it. And hardbound books are so heavy I can’t hold them with one hand and pet the cat on my lap at the same time. Also, they fall on my face when I snooze off in bed. I’m so glad you have a Kindle!

there really are lots of free books available. There are also lots of dollar books. I have not spent more than that yet. My Son in law has been lending me a few books too. I get them for 2 weeks then they …go away (o: Have fun.

  6. My Mom LOVES her Kindle….I think I would like one if I was hospitalized or on a long trip as a backup for the real thing. 🙂 You should see the book shelves in my house! 🙂
