Since it has been so hot we drove up to Lee’s Reservoir for a morning of relaxation.
The dogs loved the swim and everyone loved the break.
Sometimes you just have to get away for a couple of hours. In this case we took three hours out of the day. When we got back the wind was blowing with gusts up to 30 m.p.h.
The weather people are saying we can expect the same again today. The wind should help in clearing out all the smoke which came in over-night from the fire in Utah.
Fire is such a sad part of summer.

Life on a Colorado Farm 
I think we all need a break from farm life every now and then Linda. The farmer is working really hard at present, trying to spread slurry on all the grass fields that have been silaged before it begins to rain (rain is forecast) but we shall have a day off before long – and as it is his birthday tomorrow I am taking him out for a meal tomorrow night. Lovely to see those dogs enjoying themselves.

Happy happy puppies in the water! Like the one with the stick in her mouth. She looks so so proud! Summer fires are such a nasty thing. I hope we don’t have any here this year. Usually wheat fires, lightning or people throwing stuff out car windows! We are always prepared with the fire truck and tanker ready to go 24/7.

Fire is a part of nature. Man has always caused fires. Lightning is a big starter.

My birthday tomorrow too…and Fuzzy can celebrate with me!!! Hot even in ME Minnesota. How far is Canon City from you or Westcliffe. I have a friend in Westcliffe who us trying to get me to move out there. I am looking for someone who might need help to stay in their home or on their farm and have private guest house or quarters…for me and pets…in exchange for shopping, cleaning, yard work etc. Hope you have a cool down tonight. –Merri
