I am so disappointed!!!!  We had a stunning rainbow last night right in our front corn field.

I took the photos —PERFECT!

I down loaded them and LOST THEM…sob! sob!

Only this pale other end survived…

SmallI guess this is better than nothing.  But if you could have seen the other….

WOW!

Parts

After a few couple more stops we headed back.

Our trip back was fast…we decided that we would just hit the interstate and head home as fast as we could go.

Across-NE

On thing about the interstate — it’s boring!  Miles and miles of the above.

Since Terry worked as a Line Foreman for our REA for 37 years we always look at electric poles, sub stations, transfer stations, you name it…stuff no one else sees but really does exists.

Lines

These wires are created special for areas that the wind whips through so power isn’t lost.  Or at least they hope it isn’t lost.

Trucks2-I-80I-80 is an major road from one coast to the other…therefore, we met lots and lots of semi’s.

Kearny-Neb

We spent the night in Kearney, Nebraska.  One thing about about Nebraska there is lots, and lots of history in this state.

Heading-into-Denver

It was good to see Denver again!

Heading-Home

When we started out of Denver we could see storms ahead of us.

Tunnel-1

It was raining and snowing up to the tunnel and then at the tunnel the sun was shining (go figure)

Storm-on-TunnelThe other side of the tunnel was wet and nasty.

Glenwood-Canyon-2Glenwood Canyon was still beautiful but wet.

End-of-the-day-1Boy, was it nice to get home again.

Your friend in Colorado,

Linda

  1. Linda, thank you for taking us with you on your trip. A little bit of rainbow is ok.
We have an area here on our 4 lane highway 77 that is the same way as the tunnel area. It is the local airport . In WW II it was used for training and living barricks. Then later business started up and is full of a lot of good paying business.
There are times if raining or snow, north of the Strother Field will be wet or dry and the other south of the Field. Very seldom is it the same. Same road and land scape. There is no tunnel on the highway or other objects. The Field is in the west side of the 4 lane and on the east side is a COOP and grain elevator and railroad tracks.Odd how those things happen.
Did you find the part? You do not need to answer me personally. You have a lot to do. I am sure everyone else is thinking the same. Thank you Sharon Drake Oct. 14,2013

  3. What a drive! That stretch through Kansas to Denver is pretty darn boring, except for all the handpainted ‘worlds largest prairie dog!’ signs. 🙂

  6. Definitely lots of nothing on I-80. Except antelopes?
I like looking at everything, but probably not with the critical eye that your hubby does. 😉
How did you lose the pictures? Just don’t know where they went? Or?
We get the same way on a trip. Home as quickly as possible.
    Have a wonderful week!

  7. Greetings from Valentine Nebraska, where the sun was shining earlier. We hit snow and ice in and around Rapid City SD. Didn’t go through Colorado….our son drove up and met ;us in Rapid. We saw some of the sights and enjoyed the wonderful company, but boy was it cold. Roads were bare though, so that was lucky. We are heading south now.

Glad you made it home safely; and yes 80 can definitely get boring, but it is fast!!! And sometimes that matters most (even to us, but especially to you guys who have dogs and home and work to do etc…..)

  8. The canyons are beautiful. Sorry you lost your rainbow photos. I deleted photos off the card once before I realized they hadn’t downloaded. What can you do? Once they’re gone, they’re gone. My husband got to visit Kearney, NB–the Baldwin filter plant, I think?
