Well, here we are! The last month of the year. The older I get the faster time goes…flying by, as they say.
Terry got both hydraulic pumps fixed on the 4010 –over $2,000.00 later and lots of his own man power the tractor is back to work. Sometime this week he will put the loader back on and be good to go with that tractor.
There is always something it seems. Our furnace in the house is now requiring repair. Whew! If and when we get through this repair cycle it will smooth sailing for a while. The nice thing about the furnace is it is just a back up…we heat with firewood, as you know. Still there are times (if we take off for a short trip or the wood burns too fast while we are in Grand Junction) that having the furnace click on if the temperatures in the house drop below 40 is a good thing. Frozen pipes are not a good thing!
A strong cold front is due in here —
(AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL BRING BIG CHANGES TO THE WEATHER STARTING TUESDAY. STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY AS THE COLD FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE NORTHWEST. VALLEY SHOWERS MAY INITIALLY START AS RAIN BUT WILL QUICKLY TRANSITION TO SNOW AT ALL ELEVATIONS BY TUESDAY NIGHT. SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS POSSIBLE THROUGH WEDNESDAY FOR ALL THE MOUNTAINS OF EASTERN UTAH AND WESTERN COLORADO. THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VALLEYS MAY ALSO SEE SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS. SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS COULD CONTINUE INTO THE WEEKEND. FRIGID AIR WILL POUR IN BEHIND THE FRONT. AFTERNOON HIGHS MAY NOT BREAK THE FREEZING MARK FROM THURSDAY INTO THE WEEKEND. MORNING LOWS COULD BE WELL BELOW ZERO IN THE MOUNTAINS AND NORTHERN VALLEYS.)
So having the furnace as a back-up would be nice. It’s not going to happen for sometime yet, but Terry does want it in place if and when we go to Nebraska for the combine motor.
It is lightly snowing right now. Anyway, all things come to an end-once we get through this break-down/fix-back-up period I’m sure we will be good to good for a long time.
Your friend that loves December,
Linda

I just noticed a comment from the billings NWS on Facebook. This system is moving faster than they originally though. They have moved the timing up about 2 hours here. I need to go to Billings on Monday for an appointment at 1:00. Thinking about changing that! It could be a nasty 50 mile trip home if we get the snow they are talking about. They even mentioned the possibility of Snow Thunder! But, propane tank is full, enough wood stacked for both the wood stove and the wood furnace in the basement. This afternoon I’ll get a trailer filled with sheep hay and will build a nice warm bed for Ginny the crippled ewe. Plenty of coffee on hand and lots of yarn to knit and fiber to spin. It’s my brain that isn’t ready for this cold!
Boomer, you better dig out your winter coat!

Brrrrr! I don’t like the sound of your forecast. It’s good to know your equipment is being repaired. You’re right about December coming early this year! I’m sure I lost a month or two somewhere. Stay warm!

Ahh winter on the farm! I dated a farmer way back when and in the shop was exactly where we spent most of the winter dates! Weather is trying to push over the mountains as I type this. Could do without the below zero stuff tho – was 50 earlier today.

OOh, that’s serious cold and it makes me shiver, even sitting here in the sun in NZ. Am fascinated by the way snow falls on your page. How clever of you to get that happening.

Glad the tractor repairs are done…not glad about the needed furnace repair. Seems like it is always something, doesn’t?
Hope your weather doesn’t get too bad…..it is to move in here on Wednesday with chances of precip on Thursday. To stay quite cold (for NW Texas) for about a week! I know your furry friends will be glad to be inside.
Blessings!

I am jealous of your wood stove. For the second time two years in a row, my furnace went out on Thanksgiving. And I live in Michigan. The good news is that the parts are under warranty. The bad news is that the labor will cost $1400!!!! It is now more cost effective to replace the furnace. It’s only 11 years old but I’m too worried about carbon monoxide poisoning to not replace it.

So lucky that Terry’s one of those Fix Anything guys…my little baby tractor has to go to the shop every time it needs something… Hubby’s good at plenty of Other Things, though 🙂

Always some place for the money to go eh? 😉 And they think that farmers are rich!!! Ha! No trips to the Riviera here! LOL 😀
Snowy Monday here. Under winter weather advisory. Heavy snow expected in many areas here in ND. Our area will get snow through Wednesday. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
3-5 inches today up to 6-10 more by mid-week and then the temps drop way down l-o-w…..brrrr…..got the fleece tights, polartec pants and layer stuff for the chest and nice warm hats and mitts out too! My uggs are ready!!! Mmmmm….toasty!
I am enjoying this snow! In the 30s today so it is lovely!!! 😀
Have a great cyber Monday!
(((Linda))) Feel the hugs!!!

Oh my gosh yes you need that furnace backup. We used to heat our house in Oregon with wood (before we sold it and went fulltime RV), but always had the electric heat as back up just in case. And it doesn’t get nearly as cold there.

2K may seem like a lot but not for a 50 year old tractor. These pumps may not have been done before. If it works like it’s supposed to without complications that will be huge.
