The weatherman says our days of 25-28* high is about to change.  When it does it will do so rapidly!  As of the moment of this writing it is 17* here and clear, but the high today will be 36*.  That will probably only be for an hour before everything starts it’s downward fall to 7* or less tonight.

River-1

BUT I WILL TAKE IT!!  To get to 36* it has to pass by freezing to warming up! (Of course if it stays this way very long we will head into mud, which is not a fun place to be on a farm.)

River-2

By Thursday we will be back to snow and ice.  For a short time, just about four days we will think we’ve lost winter.  I can guarantee I’m going to be enjoying this false warm-up!

River-3

The Gunnison River is floating ice…it’s pretty darn cold when running water starts to make ice in huge chunks.  🙂

Christmas is close now.  I have all my shopping down except for the food purchases…I will get that accomplished this week then it will time to get the two day’s of entertainment and activity in place.  December is winding down.

Even at my advanced age the idea of and the preparation for Christmas has never dimmed.  As the song says: (to me) ‘it is the most wonderful time of the year!’

Your December loving friend,

Linda

  1. Good Morning, It’s cold here –but not nearly as cold as you all are/have been. BUT–we did get a teeeeeeeeny tiny bit of snow during the night –which is pretty this morning. Supposed to go above freezing today –so it will be gone soon… BUT–at least, it’s pretty for the moment.

Hope you do enjoy your ‘false’ warm-up… Sounds like this winter (and it’s not really even officially winter yet) is gonna be a frigid one for you all…. I just hope that you get enough snows around so that your drought will be over in spring.

    Merry Christmas.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. I’m glad you still have your heart in Christmas, when you lose that it’s so hard to get all those things done. I like poinsettias so I buy lots of those. I even buy leftover ones after the season because I feel sorry for them. And I love red and green pillows and towels. I wonder why I don’t just leave those out all year instead of the beige and brown stuff? And the lights! Why don’t we decorate our houses with lights all year, too? Our houses could look like Disneyland.

  3. It’s been hard for me to get in the spirit now that my grandchildren are teenagers. I miss shopping for toys and having little ones around. Gift cards are not much fun to buy, but who knows what teenagers like.

  4. I also love this time of year. The kids make it even more fun. We made graham cracker houses yesterday and Tyler put so much candy on it you couldn’t even see the house! I’d say it was a success.

  5. That’s the thing about Colorado — the changing weather! I have told the kids I’d even be more schitzophenic if I lived there. (They however adore it). I do too except for the cold, actually!

And did you say something about ‘advanced age’? That’s not nice when to some of us you are still a mere child ;>)))! Have a wonderful Holiday!!!
