Just as I was getting used to the winter colors…marveling at the colors that consist of pale blues, the shimmery lavenders, the twenty shade of pink…
The heavens blazed with forgotten shades of orange and yellow
Lighting up the canyons and the Uncompahgre Plateau…(Un-come-pah-gray, with the accent on the ‘pah’)
Even the blue of the sky reminded me of the blue of summer.
I think the heavens send us these visual reminders that spring and summer really does come…the skies will be full of warm colors and blue skies…hang on…hang on…
So I shall.

Beautiful sky colors, Linda… We are finally getting some sunshine and a warm-up (a little) today—after a low of MINUS 10 on our deck this morning.. We are truly not used to temps THIS cold here… Unbelievable!!!!
Since we live on the Cumberland Plateau, I need to learn to pronounce and SPELL your Uncompahgre Plateau… I’m learning GRADUALLY –if I could just remember from one time to the next.. ha ha (Is that an Indian word?)
Hugs,
Betsy

We have 33 degrees right now in south central Kansas, warmest it has been since last Thursday, Jan. 2nd. The wind has been roaring most of that time. Sun is out today, suppose to get to 40 degrees, but I doubt it will last long before it starts down.
I was just remembering I have in my family history written that Dec. 1885 and January of 1886 , this whole area was hit with a blizzard and so much snow it was up to roof tops or at least doors so that people could not get out. Cattle froze, probably anything that was outside. I believe the whole state of Kansas was covered with snow and at that time , was worst winter recorded. Was weeks in storm and snow. That would have been terrible.
Well , hope all safe . Sharon Drake

Beautiful skies. Those are the apricot tones we tried to copy when we painted our Florida room…our best sunrises here are those colors. Love that saying at the end.
Colorado son sent a picture on his way to work this morning. Of his car thermometer at minus 11) . He just said “Jealous.”

I second that Linda – those lovely sky colours must be to remind us that spring will come eventually – our snowdrops are growing apace and I still have a few ;late roses out too,

So pretty. Fall colors are my favorite – the oranges and reds against a blue sky. Nice to see some of these colors in the winter for once.
