The rancher that brings up about 80 head of spring’n heifers called yesterday and said he would be here either today or by the Friday. He has all but 20 of the young girls gathered and ready to string up here anytime now; was the farm still available?
Yes it is!
First thing Sunday morning the fences were walked and the panels hooked up. We panel off certain areas of the farm…like the hay stacks, the equipment area, and the corrals. The rest we have fenced, therefore it is just a matter of checking the fences, and making sure the electric fencer is working.
DONE!
I’m looking forward to see the cows and then the new little babies!

How exciting for you, Linda!! Glad to hear the cows are coming! I had just written my Mother that I was going to be watching cows soon, too!! My renter is going to graze the corn stalks and wheat ground here on the home place for a while!! I am excited to be able to watch them for a couple of months! Amazing how happy looking out the window and seeing cattle can make us, isn’t it?!
They have to put up the electric fence yet and then they will come.
Blessings!

I remember having to check our fence line constantly for holes or breaks in the fence…but we had the wire field fence instead of the electric fence. enjoy your cows and babies…the little ones sure are cute when first born….we had 26 cows and then 26 more…babies….lol

I’m excited to see your photos of the cows, and even more excited to see the babies. I’m sure it’s a lot of work to get everything ready, though!

It’s probably a lot easier for you to provide a place for them to live than to take care of them. I understand caring for cows is not easy.

This is interesting to a non-farmer. I assumed this would be arranged months (years) in advance. I can’t imagine having 80 cows and needing a place within the week. Live and learn, I guess.

That must be interesting to see, the process of getting them from point A to point B. It sounds like more adventure in the near future.
