A Look at the Sky — March 12, 2014

I have noticed as the seasons change the colors of the sky change with them.  Winter skies  are  colors that consist of pale blues, the shimmery lavenders, the twenty shades of pink

Winter-Sky-3

The colors scream of silence, hibernation, frost and snow and the deepest quiet of winter.
Yellow-writing
Now the sunsets with blaze with colors of yellow and orange
Yellow
Mixed in shades of grey and black…hinting…just hinting… of the warmth and the heat of summer.
WritingEven the sunrise is is pinker, more robust, mixed with yellow to lend a cast of orange
Pink-in-the-evening
Then blazes forth the day!

Linda

  1. Beautiful colours, you are right they do change as the skies cool and warm, There must be some scientific reason i suppose but i don’t care, i love to watch the skies too.. This is a beautiful collection.. c

  2. You are so right. During the day now the sky is a deeper blue, too. Now we are getting those soft puffy clouds that herald spring is coming. Our sunsets look like fire in the sky now, too. We are turning towards spring, but creakingly slow….it is like the earth is hushed….waiting, waiting.

  3. My goodness. You are waxing lyrical and the photos would suggest why.
Very spectacular indeed, I can’t envisage any more blizzards or snow now
in your neck of the woods, so I guess it’s full steam ahead with the preparations
for the plantings. Hope “mother nature” is more helpful than she has been in
Australia. Moisture is urgently needed here in the outback and PRONTO!

  4. Another good reason to be part of the land. Skies are free and every one has its own beauty. I’m thinking that making up our own reasons for the colors is much more fun than any scientific explanation.

  5. Your skies are gorgeous, Linda! Ours were brown last night with a Haboob!! A GIANT wall of dirt! Unfortunately, that comes with Spring here.

    Blessings!

  6. Your skies are beautiful. I love the winter skies with those lovely gentle shades, but I have to say that the brilliant blue summer skies are the ones I hanker after.
