What a silly thing to say…a long weekend! Terry and I are retired and we farm (we retired from our paying jobs, but kept the farm job 🙂 )
All that this means we we either have long weekends constantly or we never have a break…who knows.
Anyway…right after we got all the water set for the day, we loaded up in the McCormick van and headed up to Paonia Cherry Days to watch our second daughter dance. (I will post this in an up coming post)
We watched a coal shoveling contest, (vintage and classic cars, lots of friends, Visited many booths of yummy food, and looked at many things to purchase.
Bladen stood in line for over an hour to get a ride on the bungee jump. He said it was FUN!!!
A much braver soul than I….even if I were his age!
Home again, home again…it’s always nice to be home again. We got the water set as the sun was going down. Nice and tired after a break from the day to day.
Your farm friend,
Linda
Looks like fun!

Oh wow, a brave soul indeed!
Nice to have a ‘ break ‘. You guys still set water. Some things still have to be done.
We started the irrigation yesterday in our heifer lots. All hand lines! At least when it’s hot, the water is some what cool. We pump directly from the creek.

It looks as if you had a fun day at the Cherry Days festival. I don’t think I would be brave enough to do a bungee jump, either. You captured a beautiful sunset. It looks as if it was the perfect ending for a wonderful day.

Great memories of Paonia Cherry Days. Glad they still do that — seems like I read a couple years ago that some political factions got involved and tried to change it.
Glad you and Terry are still keeping that farm going in your “retirement.” I sure enjoy your daily posts and pictures, Linda.
Wishing you warm (but not too hot) days, cool nights, enough water, and abundant beans and alfalfa.

I know what you mean every weekend should be a long one when you are retired. Good for you getting away for the day…I could never do that bungee jump either:(

I wonder how many people (not many!!!) know that their beans or feed corn are attended to, night and day? You and your hubby are married to that farm during the growing season! 🙂

Do you water every single day?- Twice every single day?

Looks like a fun day! Yes, irrigating….I remember when my husband would go out every 4 hours, day and night, to check on or move the big round pipes for row watering. A never ending job, isn’t it? Now, most of the farmers here have pivot irrigation, but one must still walk the line every day to make sure none of the nozzles are plugged up. That could be disaster if some did and you didn’t catch it. Very few are irrigating right now since we had the rains, however, I saw two had started up again this morning…hot weather and no rain forecasted for awhile.
Beautiful sunset, Linda!!! Blessings!

No offense, but I think that people who bungee jump are crazy! And brave, too, yes. 🙂
What a fun day!
Have a blessed week and thank you, again for all you do!

Just checked into Celi’s blog…I love it that you are her “hay mentor”…seems like you mentor a lot of people (myself included) for various things. What a lovely weekend you had…I love that kind of fair where people entertain themselves in time-honored ways. I used to go to the Highland/Scottish Games at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina…lots of log rolling and greased-pole climbing. It was so much fun. Much better than an iPad!!!

Day trips are sometimes better than a vacation … not as much planning and packing and a break from the routine as you say. And what a fun fair it was.
