We had to leave the house early today (although we always get up early —there is water to change and other things to get done). I didn’t have a chance to post my daily post.
We (Terry and I) had been invited to Paonia, Colorado, to see a large Solar Training Facility . We were to be there early. Since Paonia is an hour away from us we had to keep moving or be late.
It was a fascinating experience. There is so much to learn about Solar and all the different types of solar panels.
Now we are back…and I’m getting caught up with my day!

Solar is an amazing thing! We have 3 water tanks run on solar. It’s so nice too be able to put a 1500 gallon tank in the middle of nowhere and be able to have cattle get a drink or whatever wants one.
The initial cost is heavy, but in the long run it’s pretty cheap.
Are you guys thinking of getting solar stuff?

If you do install it, and you’re anything like me, you’re going to be nipping out to the inverter all the time to see how much electricity you’ve ‘made’ each day. And you’ll learn to time the running of high-drain equipment for times of maximum solar gain so it doesn’t cause a bump in the graph! Yes, yes, I know, very sad geeky behaviour, but it’s interesting!

Solar power would solve a lot of problems. If only the panels could do the watering or the baling… THEN you’d really have something! 🙂

I hope you will share your experience with us when you get more time.

There are now quite a few solar energy farms in our area. We have solar lights along our driveway that work fairly well. I imagine your visit to the training center was interesting.

I was late getting my post done, too. We had solar hot water for awhile. The technology has come a long way since then. It would be nice to be able to use it for more energy savings.

Cool trip! We continue to investigate and learn, too. You’ll have to fill me in on this place.

Sounds like you had a busy but wonderful day… We don’t have near the busy work schedule as you two do –but we have started getting up earlier than we used to –simply because we can get so much done early in the morning. AND–it’s great to sit outside at 6:30 a.m. and do our devotions.. SO quiet and peaceful.
Hope you enjoyed the Solar Presentation.
Hugs,
Betsy

There are several ‘solar farms’ around here. There is a big one out toward Lancaster. Always surprises me to come around a corner and see one. 🙂
