(Cockleburs)

Years and years ago we were in charge of keeping the canal bank free of over-growth.  So we did… we planted grass, watered it up, waited for it to get a goodly size and put the cows out to graze on it. Magic occurred….the sides were free of grass, weeds didn’t take over and every spring we went out and burned off the trash.   We were happy, the cows were happy and the ditch riders were happy.

Then the ditch company discovered the joys of weed spray.  They were so excited and happy…. they could spray out the grass along their many miles, and miles of canal and ditch banks.

So spray they did!

They were right!  No more grass!  Not a sprig anywhere…but in its place came

Stickers!

And other noxious weeds.  Beats me.
