Five Months Old

The first eggs have started to appear; it sure was exciting to go to the chicken house, after work yesterday, and find these little eggs.

They were laid everywhere, under the roost, next to the water can, by the door, not in the nesting boxes. But what the heck…it takes time to catch on to what you need to do when whatever you are doing is the FIRST Time!

You got eggs!! And brown ones too..my favorite. Five months..that’s awhile and lots of chicken feed..but they are your eggs from your chickens!

I am seriously thinking about getting some chickens. I would have to have a good chicken house and lot because it gets cold upon this mountain.
We have good taste don’t we…….. in drinking glasses !

How fun. Have you ever looked at chickens in the road…suzane Mcmin She is always talking about waiting for her chickens to lay. After Oprah yesterday showing chickens in tiny crates (Lotssss of chickens) think I will by free range eggs. lol

Have you ever read the book The Egg and I? It’s a funny tale about a woman who moves out to a farm from the city and has to adapt to farm life. She finds eggs in the dryer! Too late, I might add! That happened to my Mom, once too, back in AL! She had the washer and dryer in the open, on the carport. 🙂
