Spring Work Has Begun

building-fence

Always there are fences to fix and re-fix

The canal bank has to be burned readying for the water coming on the last week of March

Both Fuzzy and Sammy Sam like to help us (Monkey never leaves the house, the fresh air messes up her fur)

Other farmers are burning so a haze hangs everywhere, creating breathing problems for me and others (but spring rains help clear it out)

Hoolie wants to get out and help us also, but her parents said no!

And I finally got the hedge cut down so I can start over this spring!  YEAH!  I’ve been trying to do this for two years.

  1. Spring–AHHH! It’s on its way! We have a steady cold rain today and likely tomorrow, but the 70’s weather of the days prior gave 8us a real taste for what’s soon to be. And we need this rain. Can’t wait for full-blown spring, though it for you I know will mean lots of hard work! I won’t even have a yard yet, but we are “getting there.” Eventually….:-)

  2. You folks are busy out there………..we are still buried in snow so no spring work going on here other than in my mind 🙂
Do you worry that the fires to burn the grass around your canals will spread to far? I’m sure they are controlled – I’m just a real worry wart about fire 🙂

Enjoy your nice weather – it’s supposed to be in the 40’s here for the next two days – whohoo! Gotta shear my goaties before those babies arrive 🙂

    Have a great weekend ~

  3. We are seeing our local farmers burning the fields as well and have tried to explain to inquiring young minds that it is a way to pour back into the earth(I’m a simpleton when it comes to farming)but I’m intrigued why you do it before the water comes.
    Have a joyous day tomorrow.
    Blessings, Noreen

  5. I love spring, but boy oh boy does it mean a ton of work! We have fences that need fixed too, but hubby did get the pastures burned off this past weekend while I was in AZ visiting my mother. It wasn’t eventless, but at least the house is still standing. 😉 I’ll be blogging about it and posting pics later tonite, hopefully!
