This weekend looks even busier with the planting of the garden.  Spring is my favorite seson, but I do get tired at the end of the days, what with the farm, animals,  and my ‘paying’ job.

Still it is better than the dark, long, cold days of winter!

  1. You certainly stay super busy all summer long!! Hope it gives you a break so you can head northeast and I west!!!

What do you all plant in your garden? Trying anything new?

Is Evan enjoying farmwork once again?

  2. It is so exhausting just reading about all you do!

I can’t wait to share how you do the pipes with my hubby, he will find that very interesting!

  3. I know very well the Never Ending days of Spring planting. Glad we don’t do that anymore!
And the ALFALFA SEED = tiny nugets of GOLD!
I remember all the Co$ts involved w/planting……fertilizer….new parts needed for this piece of equipment and others….fuel for the tractor.
Hoping no Seeding tube plugs up……..on and on!!

I say….keep the paying job as long as possible!

And thank you Linda for all you do to educate non farm people. Everything you post is always so very interesting and a real eye opener for most!

  5. Spring IS the busiest season, isn’t it? Even when I lived in Ohio on my lil city plot, I remember how busy I was on weekends, clearing out old flower beds, trimming/pruning, mowing/trimming, planting flowers, mulching and adding peat, cleaning up all the dog poo in the backyard, etc.

Now on our 26 acres, our list for spring clean-up and building seems impossible! Esp when hubby has been working OT. He’s worked over everyday this week except yesterday — he got home around 12:00 midnite and got up at 4:30 to head back in today. Sigh. You KNOW he is going to be dead tired when he gets home and so we will get nothing done around here. Sigh again.

Yesterday I was going to sit in the backyard for a spell and relax, read a mag. I always have good intentions for relaxing, but rarely follow through. Instead I ended up trimming (hacking!) a bush that sits right by our back porch/deck. It was overflowing onto the deck, and it buzzes with flies sometimes, so I’d had enough of it. Honestly, I wish it would die. But it does look MUCH better with its haircut. Now if only my arms would feel better today — they ache!!

Sounds like you guys have a busy w/e planned, hope you also have a good one! And Talli is adorable, love that pic of her. 🙂
