If we are lucky and the weather holds we will have a fourth cutting. So far no freeze yet. BUT we have had a killing frost on Labor Day. It doesn’t happen often, but it has happened. Time will tell. Time will tell.

AMAZING! Third cuttings are like gold here in NW
Pennsylvania. Actually 2nd cuttings are terrific!
……and 4th cuttings? UNHEARD of here.
We did get a smidgen of a 2nd. cutting on our farm.
But only made 300 bales. And that’s a lot of mowing and raking for such a little amount.
Our weather this summer has been……..NO SUMMER!
I think we’ve only had maybe 4 or 5 days of really nice hot summer……and that stinks.

I’m sure with this economy a fourth would be a godsend, so I’m crossing my fingers and toes for you.

Hope you get it. I don’t want a frost. We plan on camping a few more times (o: Of course your hay is much more important.

Hope you get that fourth cutting! I am sorry that you don’t get much of a summer… but I am frankly quite tired of the heat. Not our hottest summer ever… but hot none the less. It is raining with the sun shinning right now… and very humid! VERY humid!
Wish I could come out there and smell that hay. 🙂

I can’t believe fall is right upon us. Hubby bush hogs for a big industrial company here and he is getting ready to hog for the 3rd time.He is ready for the season to be over, he is very tired .I think this might be his last year of taking care of that place. He does all the mowing too.He says he is retiring from the big places.

Wish I could send you some of our Texas heat for that 4th cutting! Wow only a few weeks of summer. We’ve had summer heat for quite awhile. Since the first of June or even end of May. Today, the thermometer on my car said 98. I’d like to trade with you for awhile… Hope you get that 4th cutting.

Four cuttings, wow! Only two here. Signs of Fall are all around. Leaves are starting to change, crickets singing, two hours of daylight gone. To top it off Halloween and Christmas items are starting to appear in stores. Could we just get through Labor Day!

I think we used to get 5 cuttings in our alfalfa field a year, but that was with diligent irrigation and, of course, we had gobs of sunshine from April til November.
I am such a farm/ranch girl. I love your simple shots of the farm fields. LOL Feels like home.

Wow, we get two cuttings here. Almost never, ever three and last year because of all the rain, there was only one. It sent hay prices sky high. You are very fortunate.

Wow,…. possibly four cuttings? Here in northern NY we are lucky to get a good second cut. Seldom a third. My son is a dairy farmer. A flock of Canada geese have settled in a field below my house,… a rest spot before they continue their migration. A sure sign of fall….. brrrrrr…. it’s on its way.
