Fire in the Sky

By surfacing your blogs I see that the sky was on fire in many of your areas.

The cows seems totaly unaware, but not me (or you).

I love the drama the heavens give us!

  1. I clicked over to your site from Linda’a blog ( just another day on the prairie) when I saw your quote. Well said.

  2. Lovely! Sometimes, I would think there was a forest fire when the sunsets would light up the sky and trees, especially after we really did have a fire. Your camera does a wonderful job of capturing the brilliant colors. We have overcast and rain here. Not pretty at all. But the wood stove is burning warm and bright.

  3. Hi there! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas season! I saw the skies that you post about! The kids & I were heading west out of Gunnison & we just “oooohed” and “aahhed” for about 5 minutes or so. It changed so fast.

Here’s a link to another blog that I read. She caught the colors too.

    I love color

Take care! Tell your hubby that my hubby is itchin’ to get over your way and meet you guys & see his new barn project. It’s right up his alley.

  4. Far Side-Makes up for all the cold and snow. You probably have lots more than us, but even with the amount we have, I’m tired of it!!!!

Kathleen-I do too. And it seems to be everywhere! Cold, beautiful, fiery sky!

Mountain Woman- I think it must be because of all the arctic air. Anyway, it is lovely!

Callie-Wood stoves are the best. We have a backup of propane and it just doesn’t ever make a person feel warm. With our wood stove we can heat the upstairs even.

    Thank you for the complement!

  5. Great photography Linda of a Colorado sunset.

However, if here in Australia, a similar scene occurs, it will mean disaster. For your blogger friends. The below is the latest report.
Happens most summers in the southern regions of Australia – this year they are expecting the worst scenario.

    HB
    —————
“Fire crews are on standby with high fire danger in Northern Victoria and New South Wales
    expected.
Fire crews are on standby with high fire danger in Northern Victoria and New South Wales,
with temperatures tipped to soar again.
A code red catastrophic fire alert has been declared for much of northern Victoria, with dangerous bushfire weather conditions to intensify by this morning.
The code red alert is the highest available under Australia’s new national bushfire rating
system, and has been declared for the northern country and northeast regions.

  6. TinaMarie-Too many trees?

Diane-Actually that was evening. 4:30 is too early for me. One day a week all through January. Ugh!

Mikey-Makes up for the bitter cold, doesn’t it?

HB-Fire! Man’s worst enemy! My heart goes out to everyone. If we could just send you some snow….

  7. CSheepL-Thank you! Isn’t it fun, this taking of photos?

Mieke-For some reason the sky looks more formidable in the winter. Maybe because we have so many other things to see in the summer.

Jody-Thank you. The sky does so light up in the winter, doesn’t it?

Cedar-I love how mountains and trees give one a sense of protectiveness, but I also relish the wide open spaces where one can see for miles and miles. Thank you.

Tammy-I read Matron’s site also. A few other people had the same view. I do believe the skies were on fire that night.

Ed-I do! And I liked the shot you had of the semi’s resting at the stop, as the sun came up. Really cool.

    JJ-Thanks for stopping by!

Lucy-Lots of others say the same sky. Pretty cool!

    Lisa and Faith-Thank you!

Pam-It is cold, or at least it was cold!
