Spring Storm for Easter Weekend

My drive to work in Paonia was in a snow storm.  At least it wasn’t a blizzard or a white out.

Icy roads should be a thing of last month or even February or January, not April.  There is another front coming in for the middle of the week, but I’m hoping we are warming up enough it will just bring rain.

Snow on freshly plowed fields really isn’t a good thing.  Plowed soil is like a thirty sponge and will absorb moisture and HOLD it.  But I think it is good anyway, because it forced Terry to take a break.  Rest is always good.  He’s home all the time so he will be able to get right out there as soon as the soil get right to roll.

It is Easter this weekend and the sun is finally shining.  The whole sun thing just plain fills me with joy!

Happy Easter, one and all!

Linda

  1. Happy Easter! Even if you do have snow. We are waiting now for winter’s last kick. Its sunny, very warm and beautiful here and is suppose to be all week. We always have a winter storm the first week of April. Where is it, I wonder? Am I going to put out all my seedlings in the cold frame only to have it dip below freezing one last time? I surely hope not! Will we have a spring without it? Hmmmm…sounds fishy to me. (I think am too impatient to be a farmer.)

  2. Hi from the eastern plains near Denver. We didn’t get any of what you got this week, so I’m sorry that your freshly-plowed fields has to be sprinkled with powdered-sugar snow, and the roads became treacherous. I’m hoping for warm weather to come your way, and ours, so we can begine our planting and growing.

We finally bought our little slice of heaven … just 2 acres but it’ll be big enough for us. We have baby goats coming probably by the end of this month, a milking goat by the end of May or June, and chickens and quail coming soon too. Love it!

  3. That is a surprising event. Hope it doesn’t cause too many problems. It was 78 and lightly raining when I left work today. Sorry I missed your call. I’ll try to give you a call this weekend if you are going to be around.

  4. We got a storm like that here. We had to scrape ice and snow off our car before we could go home last night. Our view out the window this morning looked just like your pictures. More is expected. Looks like white Easter for us.

  5. Oh my, not more snow! Hopefully it will melt quickly and you have nice weather for Easter weekend. It’s to freeze here tonight, guess I should go out and pick my “2” hyacinths. That’s all I have blooming except for the Bradford Pear trees and I’m NOT bringing them in!!!

Easter blessings to you, Terry and your family. Have a great weekend.

  6. Spring snow storms are depressing. You just get ready to see the crocuses come up, notice that the robins are back and happy, and then get a blizzard that usually kills the above. Very sad. I lived in North Dakota for 8 years and it always happened. *sigh*

  7. Linda – snow in April???? I’m so sorry!!! I am really loving our temps in the high 70’s these days. I am dreaming of summer days, and there you are with snow… How depressing! I wish you a happy Easter anyway, snow or no snow!

  9. Hi Linda, I finally got a map out and located where you are in Colorado… I have never been anywhere near your area. What is your elevation there? How far are you up in the mountains?

Snow again???? GOSH—hope it didn’t last. But—if your hubby got some rest, maybe that is GOOD….

Hope you and your family all have a wonderful Easter.
    Hugs,
