The Crazy Sheep Lady had a little contest the other day to gift the lucky winner with two jars of her very own honey.
Not only does The Crazy Sheep Lady have some of the cutest sheep on the blog block, she is also a bee keeper.
So lucky me
A jar for Terry and I and one for Misty and her family!
Our morning waffles tasted very, very good!
And along with the cool jars was a start of a really neat plant which is her favorite houseplant.
The common name of this plant is Apostle Plant because the plant sends out an iris type bloom only after it’sproduced 12 leaves. Each bloom lasts one day and one day only.
What a really neat week this has been!

That’s very cool! I’ve never heard of an Apostle plant before, but I want one! And a jar of honey too! That looks delicious! I’ve also heard that if you eat local honey, it will take away your allergies..

I have similar plants in a long trailler type planter. However, the flowers are on long stems and
are bell like – one flower stem can have about 40 small flower shoots off it. The flowers are iris coloured
and they appear late winter into spring. They last for weeks! The plant also sends off new bulbs or
whatever they do, so one can soon become many! They grow well in gardens with plenty of water,
but you have to control them or they will take over. I will try and find out the name of my plants and
let you know. If mine are the same as your “Apostle Plant”, your plant will outgrow that pot before
your very eyes! They certainly look similar – the leaf shape! Next month I will after flowering, pull
them all out, get new potting mix and separate them, toss heaps into the “wheelie bins” as rubbish,
fertilise and water them. Stand back and watch them grow!!! Interesting the similarity of your plant
and what I have. Oh yes, they don’t mind the sun. They love it, the hotter and wetter the better.

Hi Linda, Congrats!!!! That honey looks SO good…. Do you know that both honey and cinnamon are SO good for us????? SO—enjoy it and enjoy some for me also.

The Flower is totally different to what I have here – however, the rest of the
information on “wikipedia” is very similar to the growth, plus it is a tropical
plant. So if it is to survive the Colorado winters, I think bring indoors to the bathroom,
when you shower have the room closed, the steam from the hot water will ensure survival.
I have done that here with similar plants of the leafy tropical variety. They love it.
