So, of course, Terry and I under-estimated the time it would take to put a new roof on
Not only that we still think we are 40 and not in our 60’s
And of course there is the leak that has to be fixed first
So as we are working on it, one of our neighbors dropped by and asked Terry to come down and help him with the starter on his tractor. So glad for a break, Terry went with Sam. One hour later Sam’s tractor was fixed and Sam was back in the field finishing up his hay.
The next morning…who showed up? Sam! Ready to help.
They got the hole patched and the roof covered with tarp before the rains hit.
They are still working on the roof today and will be tomorrow. But I must say….two on the roof makes for much faster work.
I still handle the stuff on the ground, but now Terry has really good help.

You are brave to do it yourselves…we just got a new metal roof; hired roofing personnell to put it on. There is just no way Todd and I could have done it…we too had a leak that had to be fixed, then sheetrock work in house due to leak…if it’s not one thing, it is ten others. Oh, wow, Linda, the pioneer spirit is really alive and well in your area. In our city we have so many inspectors and regulations that it would take a homeowner weeks to figure all those out.

So glad you-all got some help! Know that makes it a little easier, for Terry on the roof and you on the ground. Look forward to seeing the end result. What color of metal are you putting up? If I get hailed out again and need a new roof, it,too, will be metal. We get just too much hail in this part of Texas.

I’m surrounded by city-bred folks who moved to the “country”, and have no idea how to be neighborly – or how to fix a tractor!

Praise God for help! That’s a big job. I’m like you, always underestimating. I pretty much need to triple the time I set aside for projects. I get a little over-enthusiastic. LOL
You are putting a metal roof over the shingles? So much easier and faster though. And a better roof, from what people say. I think I might like to do that one day. I hope it won’t be noisy.

Great choice..steel..just watch out for that sliding snow..as it comes off in a big wooosh! The first time you hear it..you will go “What was that?” Good luck..it is a large project..glad you have some help:)
