I saw a sundog this morning when I drove into work. We are still cold. The wind has stopped (YEAH) and the sun came out. Blue skies always make me happy.
The above photo didn’t capture the sundog very well, but I guess it will have to do.
For about an hour today we got up to 25*, but it is dropping again, 14* as I write this. I have begun to wonder if come June and July we are going to see heat to equal this cold.
If the weather is fine and frosty at the close of January and the beginning of February, there is more winter ahead than behind.
When the cat lies in the sun in February
She will creep behind the stove in March.
Of all the months of the year
Curse a fair February.
If it thunders in February,
it will frost in April.
If February give much snow,
A fine summer it doth foreshow.
Linda

If they keep “adjusting” our forecast (they keep dropping the temps) it will be below zero again soon! I hope not! You caught the “dog” just fine!

I can’t say as I’ve heard any of those…..I’ll have to show the Bossman……he’s the forecaster of weather here. I haven’t seen a sundog this year at all and that’s surprising as cold as it’s been.

Hi Linda, WELL—if that is true, we’ll have a humdinger of a HOT summer… GADS—we had that last summer and it was miserable. I can take a cold winter better than I can take a hot summer…
I didn’t know what a sundog was –so asked George. He ‘splained it to me!!!! See what I learn from blogging.
Hugs,
Betsy

I hope your last saying is the one that comes true, although I have cursed February a few times in my life.

One good thing about February is that it has only 28 days.
And I can’t think of another one.

I’ve been so busy with goats and chickens and gardening… I completely forget to read other people’s blogs. Really miss reading yours. Thanks for your comment today on mine. I think I’ll let it fall off … it’s possible that the worst of winter weather is over. Starting tomorrow we’re expecting about 2 weeks of “warm” weather … 30s to 50s. But during those warm days, I’ll be working to fix up their coops to make it better. Thanks again. Vikki at http://vikkisverandah.blogspot.com

It got up to 9 today and was anywhere from 15 to 20 below. A week ago today it was over 40 below.
February cannot get out of Dodge soon enough!

You got yourself one dog!! Good capture…If you have a sunset setting on your camera sometimes that helps to bring out the color. We are -19 below now..it is cold with a raw wind.. I don’t like February much better than January:(

“More winter ahead than behind?”
Now there’s a frightening thought…
Going down to 8 here tonight, but at least we’ve gone a whole week without new snow!

It has been bitter cold again this week too. Thankfully the wind hasnt been a huge factor…which is a blessing because our temps have been below zero. Daryl was in ND on Tues and it was -50 windshield factor. He was glad to be headed to WA where its much warmer and he and his truck can thaw out a bit!!
I bet he is not looking forward to coming home.
