The corn is starting to shoot tiny little roots so it was time to knock down the rows and Mormon Crease the field.
We’ve been really busy the last of last week and this weekend. It seemed like the irrigation water, the crops and my yard all needed attention all at once.
Well, the irrigation water is a three times a day requirement, but when everything comes together all at one time, sure does make a person scramble.
The cold wind blew in blowing 30 miles an hour, then it starting dumping rain. Terry was able to get the last field done just before the worst of the weather started
I’ve been working on turning this spot, where the tree was, into a garden. Freeze warning were out so I had to cover up some of my plants.
So far th alfalfa is looking good. First cutting should be sometime the first part of June.

Okay I have to ask. All my life I’ve been a Mormon and I’ve never heard of Mormon Creasing the field. What’s that? :))

Looks like it is going to be a real nice spot when you are done. Sorry about the frost thing. It is warm here at the moment, but we will probably get some more too.

I’ve often wondered how so many different things can manage to absolutely, positively need to be done at the same time. I guess it’s one of the hard-and-fast rules of farming. I hope freeze warnings are now a thing of the past for you. We nearly got up to 90° here on the Plateau — those are August temperatures.

How many fields do you all have altogether, Linda? I know you plant pinto beans and corn –and probably more. Big job keeping up with all of that I’m sure. I can only imagine how busy you all have been.

Sounds like things are progressing pretty good! We have had pretty nice weather this week, but the rains are supposed to come back starting Sunday 😦

What beautiful photos. This definitely is a busy time of year. Please though keep your freeze warnings. I’ve got my fingers crossed we’ve seen the last of the seriously cold weather and snow for a few months.

What is a Morman Crease? I’m assuming maybe you mean to split the ridges in a way to channel the water there so it doesn’t wash out the roots? Never heard it called Morman crease but then I’m a bit further removed from Utah than you.
