And Then I Saw ……………………..

Our corn is looking good

The wind rose up and brought in another batch of rain clouds and rain

Irigating in the rain is really not fun.

But before we were done it looked like the storms were leaving the area.

As the storms left I saw it…a little rainbow!

We woke up to beautiful blue skies this morning and a world smelling fresh and clean.

June 6th is rapidly coming.  My assistant has been picked to be my replacement at the Paonia Campus, which is just wonderful.  She and I have always worked well together.  I wish her lots of luck.

All of my other administrative duties for the main campus have been added to two other administrators work load.

Since I have several days of vacation time left to take, after today, I will only have two more days of work.  I wake up worrying at night that I’ve forgotten something that I do or have done in my seventeen years of work, something I need to tell people how to handle.  Oh, well, I’ll give them my phone number and they can call me if they really get stuck.

So just like the storms leaving our area, my years of working are rapidly passing down to just days

It has been good.

I look forward to whatever the rest of my life holds.

Linda

  1. perhaps you’ll make a trip (further) out west? So much to do and so much time to do it in!!!!

Thinking of you and happy to see the open fields and (pretend I can) smell the dirt.

    Peace

  2. “Rainbows, blue skies, & happiness” – wishing you these as well as good health in the Golden Years of Retirement :>)) I still miss working with good Holsteins, being a competent and caring RN, then, later, being a darn good Real Estate agent working with first time homebuyers. Three years later, it’s more cooking & enjoying feeding and being a part of the lives of grown kids & grands! There are never boring days . . . wishing you the same!

  5. ” Hats off to the past, and coats off to the future!” Congratulations, and best wishes on your retirement.
Your corn is about the height of what I see here in our county. Sure is nice to see green once again. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Two more days!! Yes, they can call you..so relax! I figured you had a rainbow..and I almost didn’t come to read about it..cause I am always so jealous. Looks like you have enough water for awhile. We are going back to barely 50 degrees again..and almost freezing at night..what a different spring. 🙂

  8. I hate to tell you this, but I’ve been busier since I retired than I was before. But I wouldn’t change a thing about my life as a retiree. There should be a law against having to irrigate a field in the rain.

  9. Sounds like hubby. 3 people were doing his job when we went to the farm this time. And he still got 2 or 3 calls on this or that.
Good luck with your retirement. I think I envy you.
It is a big change, so I understand your uncertainties. I have them too and I’m not leaving a job.
I think the rainbow is telling you not to worry. 🙂

  10. I’m busy for the next two weeks trying to get my 20 years of work organized for the next person to take over. It’s hard because my mind and heart are not coming to work with me anymore, they’re already free. I’ll be thinking about you. That last day driving home is always an interesting one, all the things that go through your mind. I’ve had them before when I changed jobs, and it’s always a good feeling. I’ll be wishing you lots of good feelings on your last day driving home.

  11. Sorry I haven’t been by in awhile. Things have been chaotic around here for the past few months. The wedding is less than four weeks away now and we’re really looking forward to the big day. I didn’t realize you were so close to retirement! Congratulations! It is a huge adjustment not having to get up and go to work each day but I think you’ll enjoy it immensely.
