Finally we finished up the last of the hay
I finished picking up the corners around 9:00 last night and Terry stacked the last load just before dark.
The irrigation water was set on the hay at 5:00 this morning.
It feels good to have the first cutting done. We sold 60 bales on the first field even before we got it hauled in
I was so tired last night I couldn’t sleep well. Still it’s nice to know rich, green leafy hay is stacked.
Next on the list?…
Cultivating the corn and the beans.
Oh, yes! The beans are up and rowing out.

My horses are still drooling. Hay prices are so high around us, when you call to get prices and get the best deal – most places wont sell to you unless you have been a continuing customer of theirs.

What a busy life it is that you lead! Your hay cutting reminds me of a dear lady I used to work with. Her husband grew hay and the hay cutting at their place was always a big deal. There was always a threat of rain to worry about and it was such a big job!

The field behind us which just had the hay cut has now been ploughed (which is unusual here) – we will be watching to see what crop is grown!

Like I said before … you all work stinkin hard (o: Bless your hearts. That is why the 9 year old is able to work hard to get his bike. He sees it modeled. We have not had any flooding down here….even though you keep hearing it will be here with the snow melt. The Saint Vrain runs by my husbands shop…but that is the only place we would be bothered by it.

If teleporting was possible, I’d buy a bunch of your hay! This drought here is horrible. More, my gelding doesn’t do so well on Bermuda. Guess what’s in abundance here in Georgia? You got it! Bermuda!

Yea! First crop of hay done, now it’s busy irrigating again, isn’t it? Glad things are going so smoothly along. (Well, as smoothly as any farming project goes 🙂 )
I can now row my irrigated cotton here on the home place. Have not driven to the others yet.

First cutting up…..yea for you! We haven’t started cutting yet and the few who have around here got rained on. Usually by now everyone is wondering how many days it will be before they cut the 2nd cutting, not this year.

Looks good, I can almost smell it. Another two weeks for the hay around here..it is most always around July 4th for the first cutting. It has rained everyday this week. Your photos look hazy in the distance..we were like that a few days..humidity I thought but maybe it is from fires someplace. Fuzzy looks comfy 🙂
