We took off for a couple of days…Misty did the irrigation for us and took care of our animals while we were gone.
When our children were little Terry drove us up this very steep mountain…Pikes Peak.
Tall
Scary driving…
You bet!
So this time we rode the cog train to the top
Where I promptly became ill
But the altitude didn’t bother Terry
The lady sitting next to me had just been to Peru. Her husband and I were not feeling very well at all. She said she learned in Peru to take the hand sanitizer and rub in on and it will help
And it did!
I was ever so thankful she was sitting next to us.
Linda

What a fun trip! I’ve never been to Pike’s Peak but have friends that have and hear it is really cool. Thanks for sharing your short trip and hope you are feeling better!

It looks like a fun trip minus the sickness. I will have to keep the hand sanditizer little trick in mind.

Hand sanitizer for high altitude sickness? I’m going to have to look that up to see how it works.

Oh my…just rub it on your hands? I lived some 55 years before my body decided to be sick in the mountains. So of course I forget to take anything…then I have a bad headache and upset stomach.
You went through South Park. Ty’s new place is in Fairplay. He works as a deputy in Park county.
Sounds like a great little trip you had.

I think I would prefer to cog train to the peak as well. Many years ago I took a cog train up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. It was a neat trip.
I didn’t know about the hand sanitizer trick — I’ll have to keep it in mind.

Linda, I do hope you recovered long enough to enjoy this most incredible, magical, piece of God’s green earth. (you are a very brave women!) I have learned something new, never underestimate the power of hand sanitizer. Glad you and Terry were able to enjoy a few days away from the farm. Hope you are enjoying your summer, Julie.

Oh! This post brought back some fond memories of Pikes Peak! My dad was in love with it, and since he was a truck driver all his life, driving up it was a pretty big thing for him! He took us on several family vacations there when I was a young girl. I always loved it so – really an incredible place! Thanks for sharing! Sorry to hear you got sick, though! 😦 What a simple solution you discovered! Never heard of such before!

How fun! Well, except the getting sick part. Was this an altitude issue or motion sickness?
