The kids made it home!  My critter sitting is done until they go back to visit the Grandparents in Nebraska or Kelly’s brother in Kansas.  That won’t be for awhile now as trips like that have to fit into school breaks.

Our indoor cat was very interested in Hermie the guinea pig, Snowball the bunny wasn’t nearly as interesting.  Probably because the rabbit couldn’t see the cat and the cat couldn’t see the rabbit.

The trap lines are busy….mice can destroy feed grains, cars and trucks, and anything else thier sharpe little teeth can get into, they also build nests in the hay, which is not good.  Not good at all.

Terry is working on the corn combine….blowing out the filters, plus other job of maintentance.

So not much happening here, but the same old stuff.

Oh…and the letter to Santa was my letter, that Momma saved.  I found it in her cedar chest after her death.  I thought it would be something fun to share.

  1. Ah Linda… I loved that Santa letter —and now I love it more, since it was YOUR letter. How awesome!!!!!

We are lucky here since we don’t have mice around.. Even with the spilled birdseed (which sometimes draws mice), there aren’t any around… We do have tons of chipmunks and squirrels though –along with possums, raccoons and skunks.

Hermie looks like he has a perfect place to live!!!!! I’m sure the kitty is curious!!!

  2. Smiling at the pretty green cat barrier around the cage. Pet sitting isn’t as challenging as grandkid sitting but a hungry kitty can add to the stress. Your kitty looks very diligent. It sounds like there are plenty of rodents available but inside ones are probably more attractive since there is no cold weather involved.

Curious to know if you got the Walking Doll, or do you remember?

  3. Perhaps you need more cats! If it smells like predator, mice tend to leave. I have a couple mice in the garage at the new house here. My cats will be moved in there for a few days starting tomorrow. I don’t want them near my horse tack!

  4. The guinea pig survived his stay under such a watchful eye? Did you have to feed the cat extra so it wouldnt get hungry so the guinea pig didnt look too tempting?
    What a hoot!
