This little Santa Claus is many, many years old. It has been in the family since the early 1920’s, at least.
It is one of our most favorite things, when I bring out the Christmas decorations. Although, I do have others, like a tiny french horn that really plays and a glass clown.
What is your favorite Christmas decoration?
Linda

Very cool..and the reindeer still have antlers!! I love the old ornaments! All of the old Shiny Brites are my favorites:)

Linda, how wonderful to have such a treasured piece. My Christmas decorations feel like old friends, especially those that hold a sentimental attachment. Of course my favorite Christmas decorations are those made many years ago when my boys were but young sprigs! Hope you are well and enjoying this wonderful holiday season. Greetings from Maine.

Oh, that is so cute! My grandmother had a similar Santa and deer, but I don’t think he was one skis. Wonder who has him now.

I remember seeing a Santa with deer like that at my aunt’s. Yours is so well cared for. Items like that which become part of family tradition take on a value of their own. I also remember tiny glass horns that could be played hanging on the tree when I was little–played too much and then gone <:(
I was talking to a lady who has big bucks to spend. She said she doesn't decorate her tree with all the old stuff and the things her kids made. She goes in for the showpiece tree all color coordindated and impressive. I was thinking, "WHY?"

That is so pretty! We have a cupcake ornament that has been in the family since my dad was little. I’ll post a picture of it on my blog.

It is one of the candle things that spins around and rings a bell when you light it. Drive the kids and hubby crazy but I love it.

I don’t have one, but yours is very interesting. I’ve never seen a Santa on skis. 🙂

When our children were toddlers we decided to have only non breakable ornaments. I remember when and where we bought almost all of them. Children from my third grade classes gave me ornaments, each one with his/her name on it. I love those, too. I remember each child and due to Facebook, I know where many of them are today and am able to see their family pictures and read about what they are doing. The ornaments have touched me in many ways. Merry Christmas to everyone!!

About a foot and half stuffed Santa that was even for a guy really cute. Everyone loved this guy and no one ever saw one like him. In any case when the time came Santa had to be moved it was found out the years had caught up with him and it was time for him to give it up.

I love this decoration! And it’s so accurate, if those are caribou instead of reindeer pulling Santa on his skis! Which, who says they can’t be? Don’t reindeer get time off too?
I don’t have any older, sentimental ornaments anymore. My ex-husband destroyed them during our divorce. But, I do treasure the lovely heart shaped ornament a blogger buddy just sent me as a house warming gift. It was unexpected and extra special. And the thought behind it made me cry! So, I guess it’s my new favorite!

I have some reindeer that go on the tree that look almost identical to yours. I know that they were from at least the 40’s. Mine is missing an antler, too! I do wish I had some of the old ornaments from my side of the family. I guess they were lost in a move.

I too love the old family pieces. Do you really think the Santa is that old? I have several of the plastic pieces but I did not realize they are that old. I also love my choir boy candles, the tree candles and snowmen candles and turkey candles too. Merry Christmas, linda

I love your old Santa and reindeer. In fact, that exact Santa was also in my family–but I don’t remember the reindeer… What memories it brought back to me… Awesome!!!
Merry Christmas.
